About this file
This document is a Statement of Interest for Coaching & Professional Learning issued by the Greater Albany School District (Albany SD) in Oregon. Albany SD is looking to engage with a vendor to provide coaching and professional learning services focused on equity, particularly in the areas of culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, implementing inclusive classroom practices, and building capacity for bias response protocols.
The district has experienced leadership and priority shifts in recent years, leading to a need for a more cohesive and unified approach to equitable practices. The desired outcome is for Albany SD staff to be able to implement these practices by the end of the service period. The district has identified potential challenges, including resistance to change and discomfort around critical conversations about race, given the predominantly white teaching and leadership staff. Albany SD is interested in working with vendors such as WestEd or TNTP, with a preferred start date in the Fall/September 2024 timeframe, using a combination of in-person and virtual coaching.

Context: Tell us about Albany SD and where you’ve been and are;
The district has been in a transitional place for the past few years which has led to some uncertainty and lack of cohesive message around Equitable practices in schools and classroom space. With turn over of leadership and shifting of priorities our teachers and leaders are craving a unified message and hungry for support and materials to guide their learning. This past year my team of two in the EDI department has listened to our staff and administrators and want to respond in a meaningful way. I believe our district is in a place to use a stronger equity lens based on our equity work/efforts during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. As my team is two people it is paramount that we lean on supportive systems like ISP to inform our school leaders and teachers and drive the work forward.
The district wishes to extend the work begun with their High School Leadership team to push out the small group equity work into PLCs/Avid/Teacher teams. The teachers that have the most face-time with students can benefit from more staff being prepared.
Empowering school level teams to design and implement professional learning for their staff around bias and Would also like to build the skill of the district team for bias response protocols (tiered systems of support). Robust tier 1 support/base needed:
· Culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy
· Every student belongs legislation and policies
· Helping teachers implement classroom agreements, and to build classroom space that is inclusive and co-designed
· Practice interrupting bias
· Curriculum enhancement so students see themselves in the learning environment.

Related LPTS & Progress Markers Longitudinal Performance Growth Targets (LPGTs) are required by each district that participates in SIA funding (virtually all Oregon districts). They are important to consider when developing coaching plans and may, over time, be important for the coaching vendor to attend to when providing intermittent updates on progress made via coaching services.
Related LPGT Targets: PLEASE SEE ATTACHED FOR GAPS LPGT TARGETS DOCUMENT
· Graduation Rates and 5 Year Completion
· Regular Attendance
· 9th On Track Districts also report programmatic and budget progress quarterly, attending to the potential growth toward key Progress Markers in those reports. Progress Markers inform behavioral and systemic changes long before the types of outcomes captured in LPGTs are seen or realized. Coaching vendors should attend to these Progress Markers when providing progress reports on coaching to the districts served.
Suggested alignment between the Progress Markers and Coaching Focal Areas are as follows:
· Equitable Mindsets, Practices & Systems
· PM2 (Equity tools are utilized in continuous improvement cycles)
Additional Progress Markers to consider tracking when planning coaching services and reporting on coaching progress:
· PM7, PM9, PM10, PM13, PM14, PM15
