FWRI 3-14-26 Quarterly Report Summary

This is a quarterly fire alarm system inspection report prepared by Piper Fire for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's St. Petersburg campus. The report documents inspections conducted on three separate dates in March 2026 across multiple buildings at the 140,000-square-foot campus located at 845 West Peninsula Drive and 100 Eighth Avenue SE, St. Petersburg, Florida. The inspections were performed by certified inspectors Chris Hill (FASA/BASA qualified) and Dwight Overton (FASA/BASA qualified) in accordance with NFPA 72 2019 Edition standards. The work was conducted on behalf of the monitoring entity Simplex, and included comprehensive testing of fire alarm systems, devices, circuits, battery backup systems, and notification procedures across the four-building campus. Testing was performed at the three facilities identified with customer number 8542 and account number 112-1336, with systems restored to normal operation on March 3, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

The inspections identified multiple fire alarm devices across the campus, including smoke detectors (ion and photo), duct detectors, heat detectors, manual pull stations, horn strobes, and speakers installed throughout various floors and rooms. Three deficiencies were documented during the inspections: a smoke detector in zone I-015 showing no power, a horn strobe in the roof wood shop that failed operation, and a duct detector in zone M2-74 in the electrical room with broken housing that did not activate during testing. All systems utilized Simplex fire alarm control panels with addressable components, sealed lead-acid battery backup (24-hour capacity), and dedicated 120-volt primary power supplies with 20-amp breakers. The inspector noted that the main building experienced panel trouble due to work being performed in the chiller room and recommended that the elevator recall key be available for the next annual inspection. The facility also has a public Halon system in the library that requires attention.
