About this file
This is a project specification document for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Facilities Services division, for fabric awning replacement work at the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute's St. Petersburg campus. The project involves the removal of damaged fabric covers from existing awning frames and the fabrication and installation of new all-weather exterior woven acrylic or polyester fiber-reinforced vinyl fabric covers at three locations: the RMI Entrance (Base Bid), JU West Terrace and JU East Terrace (Alternate Bid #1), and RMI Rooftop (Alternate Bid #2). The new fabric covers must include a minimum 10-year warranty, with all seams and edges heat-welded and double-stitched using UV sunlight and marine environment-resistant thread with a lifetime warranty. Attachment methods vary by location: the RMI Entrance and RMI Rooftop installations require industry-standard "rope and grommet" (laced) methods, while the JU terraces require "staple stitch" methods. The contractor is responsible for obtaining all field dimensions onsite, as dimensions shown in client drawings are approximate.
The contractor shall provide a one-year warranty covering labor, materials, and equipment from final completion, including all necessary adjustments and replacement of defective items at no expense to the owner. The project spans multiple buildings at the St. Petersburg campus location at 100 Eighth Avenue SE, St. Petersburg, Florida 33701-5000. Detailed architectural drawings and plans are provided specifying dimensions, elevations, section details, and framework specifications for each bid component. The work requires coordination with the existing awning frame structures, which are illustrated in the specifications as aluminum and galvanized steel tubing assemblies with continuous perimeter rods for securing lacing lines.
