About this file
This document is a Pre-Demolition Suspect Asbestos Containing Building Material Sampling and Analysis Report prepared by ACM Engineering & Environmental Services for Pinellas County Fleet Management, focusing on the U.S. 19 Substation located at 22211 U.S. 19 North in Clearwater, Florida. The survey was conducted on February 3rd, 2023 by Eric Hernandez under the direction of Patrick T. Griffin, a licensed Florida Asbestos Consultant, to identify asbestos-containing materials that might be disturbed during planned demolition of the Fuel Dispenser Canopy. The investigation involved collecting and analyzing four bulk samples from the site to determine asbestos content.
The analysis revealed that the Black Mastic sample from the Fuel Hood Pillar contains 12% chrysotile asbestos and is classified as a Category I Non-Friable ACBM (Asbestos Containing Building Material). Approximately 2 square feet of this material may remain in place during demolition and be disposed of as normal construction debris. The report recommends that if not scheduled for removal, the material should be maintained in good condition and not subjected to processes like sawing, sanding, or grinding that could potentially release asbestos fibers. The investigation followed EPA and OSHA regulations, using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) for asbestos identification, with analysis performed by a NVLAP accredited laboratory.
