About this file

This is a First Article Requirements document (AFMC IMT 260) issued by the U.S. Air Force on 05 April 2023 for a gear assembly component (NSN 1005011909802, CAGE 05606, Drawing 209F953 Revision E). The contracting office requires submission of 2 first article units as part of production quantity and will utilize them as manufacturing standards.

The contractor must conduct 100% dimensional inspection, material checks, hardness checks, non-destructive inspection, master gear comparison, and surface roughness testing along with form, fit, and function evaluation per the specifications in Drawing 209F953. A test plan is required with government approval within 60 days. The contractor must notify the requesting activity (782cbsg.afat@us.af.mil) 30 days prior to testing at the designated facility (Test Unit 455 Byron Street, Robins AFB, GA 31098-1887). First articles must be delivered within 180 calendar days from contract date with 30-day advance shipment notification. One uncoated article will be destroyed during government testing; the second article will undergo contractor testing and, if approved, will be placed in supply. The estimated cost of government testing and inspection is $31,471.67. Government written notice of approval or disapproval is due within 90 days of receipt. First article approval may be waived for offerors with satisfactory prior performance history on similar articles to the Air Force provided no more than 36 months have elapsed since contract completion. The contractor must provide prepaid shipping labels for return of test articles. Cognizant engineering contact is Rickey C Moore (409 SCMS/GU EA, 479-926-5532).
