About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) on behalf of the Maryland Transit Administration Police Force (MTAPF) to gather market research on commercially available Artificial Intelligence software capable of detecting visible firearms through existing video surveillance systems. The RFI seeks information regarding AI software that can integrate with MTA's existing Internet Protocol camera infrastructure and Video Management Systems to enable timely notification and response to potential firearm-related threats. MTA is conducting market research to understand vendor capabilities, system requirements, integration methods, implementation considerations, licensing models, and lifecycle costs. The RFI is not a solicitation or commitment to procure services. Written questions regarding the RFI were due August 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM EST, and vendor responses are due September 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM EST. All responses must be submitted electronically to the Issuing Officer, Akia Wheeler, at awheeler3@MDOT.Maryland.gov in a searchable PDF format organized according to the RFI section headings.
Vendors are requested to provide nonbinding budgetary pricing for the software and related services, including all assumptions and a description of licensing units, implementation services, recurring services, and optional services. MTA has identified specific areas of interest including detection performance rates, human verification capabilities, cybersecurity and compliance with Criminal Justice Information Services Security Policy requirements, privacy and data protection measures, and support services including operator training and technical support. Respondents should address questions related to company experience, AI software capabilities, detection performance metrics, software integration compatibility, alert and notification methods, cybersecurity certifications, privacy protections, implementation timelines, and performance differentiators. MTA reserves the right to request clarification on submitted responses and may invite selected vendors to provide demonstrations or presentations at their own expense. Any future procurement resulting from this RFI will be advertised through eMaryland Marketplace Advantage (eMMA) and will not provide responding vendors with an advantage or disadvantage in subsequent competitive solicitations.
