About this file

This is an addendum to a Request for Proposal issued by Forest Hills Public Schools for a Public Address and Clock System. The addendum, issued by Jacinto - Plante Moran on January 18, 2021, clarifies project scope and installation requirements for vendors submitting proposals. The public proposal opening is scheduled for Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 3:00 PM. The project encompasses the installation of a new public address and clock system throughout the school district, with installation requirements varying based on construction phases I through VII. Vendors must account for removal of existing legacy Public Address, Clock, and Bell system components and associated cabling as separate line items in their bids. The district will provide pathways and mounting infrastructure for certain installations, including two-gang boxes for hallway and classroom clocks in construction phases III-VII, single-gang boxes for emergency buttons in classrooms during those phases, and dual-gang boxes in the main office for emergency buttons and audio inputs.

Vendors are responsible for providing their own pathways and mounting solutions for clocks in construction phases I and II, which may require one to two feet of raceway, and for supplying surface-mount single-gang boxes for emergency buttons in phases I and II classrooms. The vendor must also provide a decora plate and patch cord to connect the Public Address Console at the secretary's desk. Removal costs for existing systems may be performed and deducted by the construction company, contingent upon whether that work is included in the awarded proposal. All pricing for removal work, installation materials, and labor must be clearly itemized in the bid submission.

Re: Forest Hills Public Schools – Public Address & Clock System RFP

1. The short link to the Public Proposal Opening scheduled for Tuesday February 2nd, 2021 at

3:00pm is:

http://bit.ly/2Ncu7qd

2. The price for the removal of existing (legacy) Public Address, Clock and Bell system components, including associated cabling, must be included as separate line item(s) and added to the total bid price. It is highly possible that this work will be performed by the construction company, and in that case the work will be removed from the project scope and the corresponding amount deducted from the awarded proposal.

3. Pathways and two-gang boxes provided by the construction company for all hallway clocks, and for classroom clocks corresponding to construction phases III-VII. For clocks in classrooms and hallways corresponding to construction phases I and II, the vendor must provide its own pathways and mounting solution, which may require 1~2ft of raceway.

4. Pathways and a single-gang box provided by the construction company in all classrooms corresponding to construction phases III-VII, for the installation of emergency buttons. For classrooms corresponding to phases I and II, the vendor must “fish” the cable through the block wall and supply a single-gang surface-mount box (note the box will be installed below an existing thermostat unit).

5. Pathways and two dual-gang boxes provided by the District in main the office, in the wall behind the secretary’s desk, for the vendor to install emergency buttons and additional audio inputs.

6. A pathway to the secretary’s desk will be provided by the District for the vendor to run cabling for the PA Console. The vendor must provide a decora plate to terminate the cable run into a RJ-

45 jack, and a patch cord to connect the PA console to the jack.
