About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to the installation of a new fence for the Canteen Courtyard in Illinois. The current fence is mostly installed in soil, with two poles located in a 7-foot sidewalk area. For the sidewalk poles, the vendor will need to handle the removal and installation. The new fence will primarily be installed in soil, with 1 foot of space from a concrete retaining wall and 20 feet next to a concrete slab. Landscaping in the area is minimal and will not interfere with the fence installation. Excess dirt from drilling new holes can be left in the landscaped areas. The preferred fence color is white.

The Canteen Courtyard fence project is a state and local contract opportunity in Illinois. The scope includes the removal of the existing fence and installation of a new fence. Respondents are expected to provide pricing and installation details based on the provided information.

Questions received from a vendor:

first ? the current fence is it installed in soil or a concrete slab.

Mostly Soil, but there are two poles that are in the 7 ft of sidewalk.

second ? if its installed in a slab when we either pull the old post or cut them flush do we need to fill the holes or is this something someone else will be taking care of.

For the two poles that would go in the sidewalk will need to be taken care of by the Vendor.

third ? will the new fence be installed on a concrete slab or will it be installed in soil and if its installed in soil is it going to be directly up against a concrete slab or is there room between.

Mostly Soil, but for the two poles it will go in the side walk. Soil part is 1 foot from a concrete retaining wall and 20 feet next to slab.

fourth ? is there any landscaping in the area of the fence when drilling new holes will there be mulch or rock that we will need to tend with.

There is some landscape but will not be in the way.

fifth ? if its installed in soil and its just grass after drilling holes there will be excess dirt that can either be used to fill in were old post were depending on ground circumstances (concrete or soil) or can be removed but will we be required to reseed that area and straw it or will someone else be taking care of "clean/touch up" when the fence is complete.

Soil can be left in the area of the landscape.

sixth ? what color does the fence need to be (black) or (brown, green, white).

White would be preferred.
