About this file

This is a Statement of Work for Commercial Products issued by the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories (OSEL).

The procurement requires a 6-axis collaborative robotic arm system with control software to support regulatory science tools development for interventional, radiological imaging, and visualization research. The robotic arm must have 6 rotating joints with a 5-10kg payload, 750-950mm reach, and Tool Center Point (TCP) movement capabilities including at least ±150mm in X, Y, and Z axes and ±45° in yaw and pitch angles. The arm must achieve repeatability of less than 0.035mm, maximum joint speed of 180°/s, and weigh under 30kg with an IP40 or higher ingress protection rating. The procurement includes four line items: (1) the collaborative robotic arm; (2) a controller with 120V 50-60Hz AC power preference (220V acceptable), minimum 8 digital input/output ports, 2 USB ports, and 1 Ethernet port; (3) a teach pendant with at least 8-inch touch screen, wireless or 2m cable connectivity, and emergency stop capability; and (4) software with TCP calibration procedures, permanent licensing, SDK support for third-party integration (LabVIEW, MATLAB, Visual Basic, C++, C#, Python), and compatibility with Windows 10, Windows 11, or Linux. Optional items include a gripper with 125mm stroke and 20-100N grip force, additional I/O expansion boards, and adapter plates for camera mounting.

Delivery is required within 60 days of award. All equipment must be new and non-refurbished, with ISO 9283 certification and a minimum 1-year warranty. The contractor must provide robot calibration prior to delivery with certification, recalibration support as needed, a robot base plate for quick installation, user manuals, testing and calibration information upon delivery, and technical and software support during normal business hours. Quotes must include all shipping and handling costs. Deliverables ship to US FDA CDRH DIDSR, Attention: Ryan Beams, 10903 New Hampshire Avenue, WO62 RM 3126, Silver Spring, Maryland 20993.
