PART 3 – Description/Specifications
3.1 STATEMENT OF WORK:
Background
Sun Protection Factor (SPF) testing is conducted in compliance with the regulatory requirements set forth by the Federal Register 2011 sunscreen final rule, which is codified in FDA regulations as 21 CFR 201.327(i). The method is an in vivo method that requires human subject clinical testing. Human subject testing is time consuming and could pose possible risks to the human subjects. Broad spectrum testing is conducted in compliance with the regulatory requirements set forth by the Federal Register 2011 sunscreen final rule, which is codified in FDA regulations as 21 CFR 201.327(j). The method specifies the Ultraviolet (UV) spectrometry requirements such as plates, sample holder, light source, input optics, and dynamic range of the spectrometer. In addition, the regulation states the requirements for sunscreen product pre-irradiation and calculations.
Objective
The objective is to acquire Solar Light SPF testing analyzer (or equal to) system with pre-irradiation solar simulator to determine SPF values in vitro and to determine broad spectrum along with supplies, standards, and materials required to run these tests. The purchase is for Food
