About this file
This document is a revised guideline from the Infection Control Workgroup in coordination with local Infection Control Experts regarding the use of face masks/respirators, face shields, and goggles. The guidelines define well-fitted medical masks, including surgical masks and KN95 masks, and specify the required personal protective equipment (PPE) based on the county's COVID-19 transmission rate. The document outlines specific circumstances, such as COVID-19 environmental cleaning, admissions/readmissions, aerosolizing procedures, and designated COVID-19 units, where fit-tested N95 respirators and face shields or goggles are required. It also provides options to improve mask fit, such as using nose wires and the knotting and tucking technique.
The document does not include any information about a state or local contract opportunity, such as products or services requested, project overviews, item quantities, response dates, due dates, site visits, bidder's meetings and conferences, award dates, or the term of the contract. Additionally, there is no information about pricing terms, set asides, incumbents, funding requirements and sources, or any other salient details related to a contract opportunity.

Options to Improve Mask Fit
Nose Wires: Use cloth or medical procedure masks that have a nose wire (a metal strip along the top of the mask) to help prevent air leakage at the top of the mask. Nose wires can also help to prevent fogging of eyeglasses. To get a good fit, make sure to bend the nose wire over your nose to conform to your face
Knotting and Tucking: This technique can be used to improve the fit of a medical procedure mask. Knot the ear loops of the mask where they join the edge of the mask, then fold and tuck the unneeded material under the edges.
