About this file

This document is a Purchase Description for an interlock knit cloth specifically designed for All-Purpose Short Shell used by the Air Force and Space Force. The specification details two color classes: Class 1 in Air Force Shade Blue 1673 and Class 2 in Space Force Shade Black 1681, both made of 100% polyester. The fabric must meet rigorous technical requirements including specific weight (4.95 oz per square yard), width (63 inches), knit construction (50 wales and 64 courses per inch), and performance characteristics such as stretch, dimensional stability, moisture wicking, and antimicrobial properties.

The purchase description outlines comprehensive testing protocols using ASTM and AATCC test methods to ensure fabric quality, including evaluations for colorfastness, abrasion resistance, burst strength, and potential skin irritation. The cloth is intended for manufacturing All-Purpose Shorts for the Department of Defense, with strict requirements for material sourcing, workmanship, and toxicity. Each roll of fabric must be labeled with fiber content, and the fabric must undergo detailed yard-by-yard examination to ensure it meets the specified quality standards.
