About this file
This document is an attachment listing representative hardware components for the FAA's Tower Simulation System (TSS) across three configuration sizes: Small, Medium, and Large. The hardware components include computers (MSI Infinite RS and Dell OptiPlex XE4), multiple monitor types (LG and Samsung), communication equipment (Plantronics headsets and communication boxes), peripheral devices like printers and keyboards, and supporting infrastructure such as network switches and UPS systems. The document specifies exact quantities for each component type, with the FAA expecting to deploy up to 176 TSS units, predominantly in the Small TSS configuration.
The attachment also details hardware for two additional system components: the Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) station and the Scenario Development Laptop (SDL). The RPO hardware includes a Dell computer, BOCA flight strip printer, LG monitors, a Beetronics touchscreen, and supporting equipment. The SDL is a single MSI Vector 16 laptop, with the FAA estimating one SDL per each of the 30-40 field service representatives supporting the ATCT Simulation Operation contract. The document is marked as a draft and provides a comprehensive inventory of technical equipment needed for air traffic controller training simulation systems.

Representative TSS Hardware Components Attachment A – DRAFT
Attachment A: Representative TSS Hardware Components This document contains a representative list of the hardware components of a complete Tower Simulation System (TSS). It includes the following subsections: TSS Hardware by Configuration, RPO Hardware, and SDL Hardware.
1. TSS Hardware by Configuration There are three configurations of the TSS: Large TSS, Medium TSS, and Small TSS. While the hardware included in these configurations varies slightly by facility, the three lists of hardware in this section are representative of the three configurations.
Although the FAA has not yet determined how many or which facilities will receive a TSS under the ATCT Simulation Operation contract, the total number of TSS’s deployed is not expected to exceed 176.
Regardless of the total number, the FAA expects that most TSS’s deployed under the ATCT Simulation Operation contract will be in the Small TSS configuration.

2. RPO Hardware The table below contains a representative list of the hardware components of a Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) station. The quantities of some components are given as a range because these quantities vary slightly by facility. At least one RPO station is collocated with every TSS. A Large TSS may have two RPO stations.

3. SDL Hardware The table below contains a representative list of the hardware components of a Scenario Development Laptop (SDL).
SDLs will be used by field service representatives (FSRs) to develop training scenarios. The FAA estimates that one SDL will be required for each of the 30-40 FSRs supporting the ATCT Simulation Operation contract.
