About this file
This Statement of Need (SON) details a Power Generator Replacement project for a military flightline at Kirtland AFB. The purpose is to provide in-house replacement for flightline power generator carts, mitigating current wait times of 45 minutes to 2 hours for power generator delivery. The project requires 21 power units with accessories and 7 solar panels, capable of 1500 watts output with 50 percent maximum power for 8 hours, rechargeable via wall outlet and solar panels. The project is scheduled for implementation by 15 September 2025, with units to be placed into service within 30 days of receipt. Performance objectives include tracking use-per-purchased equipment, determining real-time savings, and conducting evaluations at 90-day and 180-day marks. Storage and upkeep of the portable power banks will be managed within individual CTK sections or tool rooms, with project coordination required to ensure proper asset accountability and use tracking.
