Contractor Capability Statement
Company: Velontra
CAGE: 8VQ29
DUNS: 117912459
Size: small
Socioeconomic Status: none
POC: Eric Briggs, ebriggs@velontra.com
Description of company capabilities:
Velontra specializes in the design, build, and test of high-speed air-breathing propulsion systems.
This includes combustion devices, such as afterburners, as well as variable-area nozzles and cooling devices.
Velontra afterburner design is based on in-house proprietary techniques to balance the multiple needs of a combustion device operating with air at high speeds and temperatures, including ignition, flame holding, combustion stability (screech), and cooling. Nozzle designs are in-house, using Velontra’s extensive mechanisms experience, balancing the needs of a mechanism in a hot gas flow for cooling, responsiveness, and sealing.
Velontra designs are tested mostly in house. Velontra has designed, built, and operated its own test stand for airbreathing propulsion. This includes the structural mounting, data acquisition system, control systems, components, and ground support equipment (GSE). Velontra has performed testing on this stand for several years.
Velontra follows industry standards and recognized best practices in a lean, fast-paced environment with minimal overhead. It focuses on rapid design-build-test cycles to continually improve its products.
Velontra personnel have extensive experience in both air-breathing and liquid rocket propulsion.
In addition to afterburners and related hardware, Velontra has experience in liquid rocket boosters, aerospace mechanisms, and the development, qualification, and flight of aerospace hardware. The team has industry experience on a variety of jet engines and rocket programs, ranging in status from clean sheet to fully operational. Velontra also has experience in test stand build up and operations, including physical structure, data acquisition, and controls.
Velontra would be pleased to explore appropriate teaming opportunities to use the foregoing capabilities.
