The following are answers to questions from the HVAC Upgrade A‐wing 3rd floor HQ bldg 100 site visit:
1) What is existing distance from ceiling grid to roof deck above? ANSWER: THIS
DISTANCE WILL VARY DEPENDING UPON WHERE THE WORK IS BEING ACCOMPLISHED. THE
DISTANCE FROM THE TOP OF THE FLOOR TO THE TOP OF THE ROOF SLAB IS APPROX 13'‐9".
IN MOST AREAS THE HEIGHT ABOVE THE GRID SHOULD BE AROUND 4' FROM THE CEILING GRID
TO THE TOP OF THE CONCRETE ROOF DECK.
2) Is roof deck concrete(is shown so on drawings)? ANSWER: (YES ‐ THE ORIGINAL
DWGS SHOW THE ROOF DECK AS CONCRETE)
3) Clarify what furniture and /or work stations are to be removed and reset by GC or what can just be covered with plastic?
ANSWER: During the design it was determined that all the furniture would need to be removed due to asbestos and ceiling removal. On Drawing Sheet IF1 5 of 18, the note says to remove all the furniture to the Model Shop and reinstall at job completion, this would include the demolition of the power and communications to the systems furniture (see notes on IF1 and Electrical drawings for the systems furniture). The Model Shop was being used for storage at the time we designed this job, courtesy storage at the Warehouse or space on the fourth floor of Building 100 might be an easier place to store the furniture in the interim (Ann Crane could check on the fourth floor of Building 100).
Looking back over the meeting minutes from CDR and PDR moving the furniture was a requirement, if alternate arrangements to cover the furniture are made this would have to be approved by Bing Bragg in Industrial Hygiene.
Also in the meeting minutes we met with the users concerning where they would move, the exact location was unknown and it said would be determined at the time of execution.
4) If the GC is going to be responsible to move furniture, will we be responsible to move communication equip.; computers; important or classified documents?
ANSWER: The contractor would move the furniture. ATA will move the computers to wherever the folks will work while the area is under construction. Handling classified documents will be the responsibility of the government.
5) Can sprinkler heads be replaced where they are currently located coming off the mains or do they have to be centered in the new ceiling tiles? ANSWER: PER
THE SPEC THE SPRINKLRS SHOULD BE CENTERED IN THE NEW CEILING TILES
