Text version
Description of the Communications Emulation Capability The Communications Emulation Capability (CEC) is a replica of the communications network between the MCS and the GPS remote sites, with test equipment that can simulate realistic communications message error performance and delay. The CEC has the capability to be interconnected with other CTE elements. It has the capability to simulate end-to-end communications between routers. In addition, the CEC has crypto equipment and multiplexer equipment that is identical to that deployed to the GPS network, allowing setup and control of these devices in a laboratory environment.
Figure 1 shows the CEC operational concept. This stand-alone simulation allows data rates, encryption options, multiplexer operations, and performance with realistic error rates. The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) provides communications long haul capability for GPS. CEC is a capability located within the Boeing Mission Operations Support Center.
