FA8604‐23‐R‐B011

Minneapolis St. Paul IAP ARS, MN Questions/Answers Set 1 Date 05 July 2023

Questions/Responses:

1. For power, I see sec on 3.3.1and it refers you to sec on 3.2.2 and that's crane class.

The specification is referring to Section 3.2.2 of the Cover PD.

2. What is the incoming power?

Appendix F has been modified to say the following:

3.3.1. POWER DISTRIBUTION PANEL (REV 1)

The power distribution panel shall conform to the specifications in section 3.2.2. in the Cover PD. The Contractor shall install a power disconnect for the crane (location determined at Post Award Technical Interchange Meeting), as well as connect all power required for the crane to the building supply. There are two panels identified with 460/3/60Hz supply available in the Electrical Room (labelled in AF Drawing VMN902‐01). The Contractor shall install power (conductor, boxes, panels, disconnects, conduit, etc.) up to 250 feet in length from the crane to the supplied panel and shall conform to the specifications in section 3.2.2. in the Cover PD.

3. Runway structure, I will need to know what this is moun ng to. It says ceiling mount to be hung from the ceiling on flexible hangers. I will need to know all the informa on about the building to quote this.

Reference Drawings of the building (including crane a achment points) have been added to the package and iden fied as AF Drawing VMN902‐03.

4. Is there a specific color that you would like?

Equipment colors are chosen during the Post Award Technical Interchange Mee ng.

5. What is the lowest obstruc on in the building?

The builder has guaranteed that a minimum 3” clearance will be held for all sides of the crane, as stated in Appendix F Sec on 3.2.3.

6. Is there a specific hoist manufacturer you would like to use?

Unable to respond to this ques on.

7. For Appendix G and the drawing, could you please provide the requested length of the Type V

“Heavies” lanes and CDS Pallet lane?

“Heavies” lanes shall be a minimum of 60’ 1‐1/2” L, as depicted. CDS lanes shall be a minimum 28’ 1‐1/2” L, as depicted. AF Drawing VMN902‐01 has been modified to show these dimensions.

8. Appendix E 3.2.2. states that uprights shall have a 30,000 lbs capacity as well as sta ng that the upright capacity must meet the minimum capacity in the table below which states 42,000 lbs. Which is correct? If 42,000 lbs is required, would double columns be acceptable? The highest capacity for a standard 192” H upright is 34,218 lbs.

The contractor shall provide all pallet rack uprights with a 30,000 lbs capacity, as specified.

The Contractor shall u lize the table as a reference for what the capaci es would have been if maintaining max shelf loads per level.

9. Cover PD – 3.1.10 – It sounds like the GRC is on an elevated surface/mezzanine and the ‐02 drawing looks like it has an elevated surface under the GRC however there are no specifica ons for an elevated surface/mezzanine in the project appendixes. It only specifies kickplate, guardrail and gates however the appendix for the GRC states in para 3.2.8. the GRC should be anchored to the concrete floor. Can you please clarify whether the GRC is elevated or on the concrete and if its elevated, provide specs for the mezzanine?

The GRC shall be installed on a concrete pad that has already been poured. The elevated concrete pad is at a height of 48” above the surrounding floor, as depicted.

10. Appendix A – Wide Span ‐ 3.2.2 – The paragraph calls for each upright to be 6600 lbs capacity but the chart says 4400 lbs per upright. Are you just asking for extra capacity but not u lizing it or is one of them a typo?

The contractor shall provide all wide span shelving uprights with a 6,600 lbs capacity, as specified. The Contractor shall utilize the table as a reference for what the capacities would have been if maintaining max shelf loads per level.

11. Appendix E – Pallet Rack – 3.2.2 The paragraph calls for all uprights to have a 30,000 lb capacity but type A48108 requires 42,000 lb capacity since it has 7 shelves. Does the 30,000 lb capacity only apply to the B48108, or is 30,000 a typo?

The contractor shall provide all pallet rack uprights with a 30,000 lbs capacity, as specified.

The Contractor shall utilize the table as a reference for what the capacities would have been if maintaining max shelf loads per level.

12. Appendix F – Bridge Crane – What would we be hanging the runway from? Slope angle or flat? Is building beam size or spacing available?

Reference Drawings of the building (including crane attachment points) have been added to the package and identified as AF Drawing VMN902‐03. See image below for the actual runway attachment point.

13. In drawing ‐02 “hoist travel area”, do you want to eliminate hook travel into cross‐hatched areas with the use of travel limits? If so do you want slow down and stop limits before reaching the crosshatched areas?

It was not intended for the hook travel to be fully eliminated in the cross hatched zones.

Instead, this would be left to the control of the operator to avoid the cross hatched zones. The cross hatched zones indicate the mezzanine and over head door areas, as depicted. The contractor shall mark the perimeter of the mezzanine with high visibility caution signs, due to the hazards.

14. Its unclear where the bridge crane is in rela on to the rest of the equipment from the drawings.

If the inten on is to be able to use the bridge crane over the GRC we need to know as that affects how installa on is done.

The bridge crane is intended for use with the GRC and this interaction is essential to the project.

15. Appendix G ‐ GRC – 3.2.6. shows 6” wide in the illustra on, but drawing 01 shows 9” and 6” for the width of the conveyor. 3.2.6. also shows the height as 4” on the illustra on but 3.2.6.3 states the height should be 5”H. (Also states in 3.2.6.3 inside width is 6”)

The specifications and AF Drawing VMN902‐01 only detail and depict 6” internal widths of the GRC frames. The 9” measurement on AF Drawing VMN902‐01 is showing the exterior widths of the GRC frames. AF Drawing VMN902‐02 has been modified to not depict the GRC. AF Drawings VMN902‐01 and VMN902‐02 have been updated to reflect a line weight of 00 for all lines. This will now be clearer.

The contractor shall provide GRC roller frames that are a minimum 5” tall, as specified in the text of section 3.2.6.3. Appendix G Section 3.2.6. has been modified to show this dimension.

16. 3.2.6.4.1 States fork ne deflectors should be on both ends of the conveyor but 3.2.7.2 state there should be fixed stops 4” above the conveying surface on one end. You can not have both.

Are the fixed stops only for the short conveyor lane of CDS pallets and the other 2 conveyor lanes to have fork ne deflectors on both ends?

The use of deflectors and fixed stops are detailed within AF Drawing VMN902‐01. The longer lanes designed for “Heavies” will have deflectors on both ends, while the shorter lane designed for CDS pallets will have one end with fixed stops and one end with deflectors. AF Drawings VMN902‐01 and VMN902‐02 have been updated to reflect a line weight of 00 for all lines. This will now be clearer.

17. 3.2.7.1. States the removeable stops are shown on drawn ‐01 but I am not clearly seeing them.

Is it your inten on to only have stops and the beginning and end of each long lane, and the beginning of the short lane (since we assume the fixed stops are for the end of the short lane and you have only requested 20)

A total of 20 removable stops are depicted on AF Drawing VMN902‐01. AF Drawings VMN902‐ 01 and VMN902‐02 have been updated to reflect a line weight of 00 for all lines. This will now be clearer.

18. There are no lengths given for the GRC Lanes, only width. Can you please supply what is expected?

“Heavies” lanes shall be a minimum of 60’ 1‐1/2” L, as depicted. CDS lanes shall be a minimum 28’ 1‐1/2” L, as depicted. AF Drawing VMN902‐01 has been modified to show these dimensions.
