First Question Set

1. Cover PD – 3.2.1.1 states the drawing is marked with a an electrical supplies room, however I do not see it on the drawing. Please mark where the electrical supplies room is, and give an approx. distance away from mezzanine location.

A. AF Drawing LEG803-01 has been updated showing location of power panels/Mechanical Room. Approx distance is 90’.

2. Appendix A – Tire Carousel Recommendation from a vertical tire carousel manufacturer: Yes we can quote it. but the spec does not make sense. Specifically, they call for storing tires from 10” D to 45” D as if they are going on one machine. Better approach is they figure out how many (or what percentage) are under 28”, how many between 28” and 32” and how many between 32” and 45”. The cost of making all the same is a big waste if the tires fall within the listed intervals.

A: There are approximately 420 tires total at present.

Percentage of tires

Less than 28” diameter – 50% 28” dia. – 32” dia. – 25% 32” dia. - 45” dia. – 20% Larger than 45” – 5% (to be stored in tire pallet rack next to carousel units)

3. Appendix E – Bin Shelving The drawing says Type A Bin Shelving is 18”D x 36”W x 87”H. The appendix says there are two types of bin shelving (A&F) and the size is 36’W x 24”D and 48”W x 24”D. It also states there is bin shelving with modular drawers located on a mobile aisle-which is not depicted in any appendix or on the drawing. Can you please clarify the entire appendix? It appears as though it was written for a previous project. The drawing only depicts bin shelving in size 18”d x 36”w x 87”H.

A: You are correct, the wrong file was forwarded to Contracting as part of the Contracting Package from a previous project. The proper file is attached.

4. Is this building located on a flight line?

A. No

5. Is there a dock at the building for unloading?

A. Yes

I have a couple questions for this project at Eglin AFB – 96TH LRS.

In regards to the Tire Carousels, can you answer the following questions:

• What is the smallest size tire?

A. 10”

• What is the largest size tire?

A. 45”

• What % of the total is each? (ie: 75% small/25% large) or quantities A: There are approximately 420 tires total at present.

Percentage of tires Less than 28” diameter – 50% 28” dia. – 32” dia. – 25% 32” dia. - 45” dia. – 20% Larger than 45” – 5% (to be stored in tire pallet rack next to carousel units)

• What is the clear ceiling height?

A. 22’-6” to joists, lights in the area are at 20’.

In regards to fire suppression and electrical hook-ups I just wanted to clarify the requirements:

• Are you asking us to run all electrical to the units we are installing or will the base run the necessary electrical to the locations and we do the hook up?

A. Contractor is responsible for running all wiring per specifications.

• Are we responsible for adding fire suppression to the mezzanine?

A. Yes

1 the written spec mentions both type B and type T pallet racks but the drawing makes no distinction between them. All of the materials on the BOM are for type T racks only.

A. AF Drawing LEG803-01 shows configuration and location of Type B (B3696 and B4896) racks.

Type T (T42108) location is shown next to Tire Carousels in Appendix A in Figure 1 and are detailed in Appendix D, Pallet Rack, Figure 2.

A: There are approximately 420 tires total at present. Percentage of tires
