About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for a federal solicitation for Cancer Care Treatment Chairs. The document contains vendor inquiries and corresponding government responses regarding the specifications and requirements for treatment chairs intended for chemotherapy procedures, including port management and port access. Responses were provided on September 17 and September 18, 2026.
Key technical requirements clarified include: treatment chairs must have powered recline abilities (not manual hand controls), swing-away arms (required for CPR purposes, not fold-down alternatives), and must be manufactured in designated countries (Taiwan is explicitly excluded with no exceptions permitted). The chairs will be used to seat patients receiving cancer care treatments. Vendors are directed to consult the Statement of Work on Sam.gov and the Combined Synopsis/Solicitation for complete minimum technical requirements, bid due dates, and additional guidance. The government declined to recommend a specific chair model as a reference, instead emphasizing that all quoted products must meet the minimum technical requirements outlined in the SOW.

Vendor Questions, Government Answers:
Cancer Care Treatment Chairs
Responses as of 17 Sept 2026:
Question 1 - Would a hand control mechanism be sufficient instead of powered recline?
Government Answer 1 – No, the SOW states that the treatment chairs must have powered recline abilities.
Question 2 - In reference to #6. Qualifying Country Products, is Taiwan a designated country?
Government Answer 2 – Taiwan is a designated country. No exceptions exist for this effort, so we would be unable to accept Taiwan manufactured goods.
Question 3 – Would fold down arms, instead of swing away be acceptable?
Government Answer 3 – No. Swing away arms are need for CPR purposes.
Responses as of 18 Sept 2026 as of 9:00am:
Question 4 - What will the chairs be used for?
Government Answer 4 – The chairs will be used to seat patients receiving their treatments in Cancer Care.
Question 5 - What kind of specific procedures will the chairs be used for?
Government Answer 5 – The procedures will be Chemotherapy (port management, port access, etc.).
Question 6 – Is there a specific type of chair that you can suggest as a reference or an example?
Government Answer 6 – At this exact time, there is not a specific chair we can suggest for you to refer to. The main thing we can say is make sure that whatever product you offer in your quote meets the minimum technical requirements as outlined in the Statement of Work (SOW). Please refer to Sam.gov and the Combined Synopsis/ Solicitation for the SOW, due date, the KTR Questions and Government Response document (this document, and we will update it as we get new questions and answers), and so forth.
