About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a Quickset Gimbal system to be purchased by the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). The solicitation (FA860126Q0001) is a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS 334516, seeking a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract for a high-precision gimbal system with specific technical requirements, including a 1200 lb payload capacity, pan and tilt motion capabilities, active stabilization, and environmental durability (IP67 rated, -30C to +55C operating temperature).
Key procurement details include a quote submission deadline of 19 December 2025 at 1:00 PM EST, a 16-week performance period after contract award, and delivery to Wright-Patterson AFB. The gimbal will support multiple optical engineering and physics courses, with payment terms of 100% upon completion, processed through Wide Area Work Flow. The government will select the lowest-price technically acceptable offer that meets the detailed technical specifications, with contact points being Bryson Pennie (Contract Specialist) and Linh Jameson (Contracting Officer) from the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Quickset Gimbal 09 October 2025
1.0. BACKGROUND: AFIT owns over $9M in exquisite hyperspectral, multispectral, and high speed remote sensing instruments used for both classroom projects and student research. Many of these instrument have very strict requirements for motion stability in order to collect the highest quality data. This gimbal system is designed to provide that stability as well as high precision pointing control. This system directly supports over a dozen courses in both Optical Engineering and the Applied physics program by providing a mechanism to explore the practical application of skills learned in these programs. The system also provides a unique capability to support teaching activities in a variety of AFIT's Physics and Optical engineering classes including, PHYS-542, OENG-780, OENG-651, OENG-650, OENG-533, OENG-530, OENG-647, OENG 616L, PHY521, METG-644, PHYS-799, and PHYS-999.PHYS-542, OENG-780, OENG-651, OENG-650, OENG-533, OENG-530, OENG-647, OENG 616L, PHY521, METG-644, PHYS-799, and PHYS-999. 2.0.
