Questions and Answers

7 March 2014

1. Do you have available the drawings and dimensions of all units requested?

The drawings and specifications are all attached to the Solicitation on FBO.

2. Can the government provide the original design in AutoCAD in a .DWG format as opposed to the pdf?

No, the .DWG format will not be provided.

3. For the thirty-seven (37) Admin Areas, is the "long side" the front of the desk where the user sits facing a guest? 5x2 means what? Is the desk 60"wide by 24"deep? If so, what is the size of the "L" return? Most common returns are 24"deep by 42 or 48" long. Is the credenza unit

48"long by 24" deep?

The long side is the side facing the guest, 60” wide by 24” deep, the L return is 48” long and 24” deep, and the credenza is 48” long and 24”.

4. For the four (4) Admin Areas what is the desk size - 60" wide by 36" deep? A 60" wide desk with drawers on both ends as described will only leave 30" center opening for a person to sit.

That is barely enough room for a chair. Will the end user consider a 66" wide x 36" deep desk?

The desks need to be size stated in the specifications.

5. For the small conference room table, what type of cabinet storage is required? Is the cabinet to be 48"wide x 24"deep x 72"high? Is it a wardrobe or shelf storage unit?

Yes, the cabinets shall be the stated size, with a shelf storage unit.

6. For the large conference room table, what type of cabinet storage is required? Is the cabinet to be 48"wide x 24"deep x 72"high? Is it a wardrobe or shelf storage unit?

Yes, the cabinets shall be the stated size, with a shelf storage unit.

7. Systems style - is this to be wood like the other rooms? "System" furniture is usually metal or laminate and is panel supported. What type of overhead storage? Shelf or flipper door units?

It could be metal with woodgrain laminate tops? Or all woodgrain laminate to closely match the actual wood furniture.

All finishes shall be high quality veneer, not wood, with flipper doors, and woodgrain laminate tops.

8. Based on the title, should the Command Deputy office be an upgraded style desk or just like the others but the larger size? Should the Commander office be a level higher furniture than the other offices?

The Command Deputy should be upgraded, and the Commander should be a level higher.

9. The written specifications dated 18 February 2014 conflict vastly with the drawings supplied to bidders. Do written specifications prevail or the “as drawn” layouts? Example offices would be 544-06 and 544-09 although there are many other offices where specified items for the space do not appear in the room drawing.

The requirements list prevails.

10. Concerning space 528-09: It would appear in the drawings that the desking is surrounded by two panels (systems style) however height of panels has not been provided. Can the panel height and specifications be provided? Are the panels to be powered? It is stated in the specifications “(color to match rest of furniture)”. What is that referring to? Would it be the top caps on the panels?

Panels should be around 5 foot 6 inches, powered, and cohesive with the dark cherry color of everything else, as opposed to being off-color with the rest of the furniture.

11. In the general specifications for overhead storage units, it doesn’t state if they are to be locking? Are they to be hutches style units or wall mounted? If wall mounted, what type of wall material are we mounting them to (example: cinder block or drywall)?

They need to be able to be locked, but not wall mounted.

12. Can we use a substitute item other than Darran? Was this specified by an architect? Are they trying to match existing product?

Items do not have to be Darran, just comparable. There is no existing furniture.

13. The specification says “similar in design to Darran,” however, Darran has many different series that vary greatly in design. These range from very traditional to extremely contemporary.

Can we be provided the basis of specification series or style? There is also no edge detail for the desking called out.

The styles shall be similar to Darran Central Park for the offices except the Commander’s, which shall be similar to Darran Prada (a level higher than the others, see Question 8).

14. How may left or right hand desk set-ups?

Please make them all right handed set ups.

15. Does any of the overhead storage need to be wall mounted?

No, the overhead storage does not need to be wall mounted.

16. Do any of the desks require grommet holes for cord management? If so, where?

Yes, all desks will require grommet the holes. They should be close to the wall on the main part of the desk.

17. How shall the desks be keyed- random or alike?

The desks shall be keyed randomly.

18. Is the final response date for the aforementioned subject tender 1:00 PM, Eastern Time on 18

March 2014?

Yes, the final response date has been amended to 1:00 PM, Eastern Time on 18 March 2014.

19. The CLIN states delivery is 4-6 weeks after WPAFB approval of final design, but the delivery date states 25 April 2014. Will the delivery date be adjusted based on the design approval date?

Performance of 4-6 weeks? Would the Government be open to extending the Period of

Performance to a total of 8 weeks?
