Questions and Answers

FA8601-14-R-A005

14 March 2014

1. On the U offices, I just want to clarify that the overhead is just over 48" bridge (short side)? What is "shelf" on back long side mean? Under the work surface, or an open shelf above?

The overhead is just over the short side and the shelf is an open shelf above the work surface.

2. For the 37 admin credenzas- are the shelves inside the credenza? Or on top?

On top

3. On the Commander's office- are the 5 ea. 24" diameter tables that are 36" high to be a café type table that people could sit around?

The tables need to be 4’ across.

4. On the L shaped desks, do you want the overhead storage over the whole wall side of both the desk and the return, or just the return portion?

The overhead storage should only be over the return portion.

5. Can the government provide the legend of symbols stated to be on page AO.101 of the drawing?

Yes, it has been attached to the solicitation.

6. The specification calls for all items to be from the same manufacturer and series. However, the answers provided on March 7, 2014 call for systems furniture panels in Room 528-09. The suggested brand to match does not provide this type of product, it will be necessary to use a different manufacturer for these items than is specified for the offices. Please advise if this is acceptable.

Yes, it is acceptable.

7. For the systems furniture in Room 528-09: Is the panel’s vertical surface to be veneer, wood-look laminate or fabric? Fabric can be provided while still maintaining a cohesive look throughout the suite. Please advise.

Fabric is preferred.

8. For the systems furniture in Room 528-09: Should the trim be veneer or painted metal?

The trim should be painted metal.

9. For the systems furniture in Room 528-09: Is it acceptable to provide a metal case storage modules with veneer fronts? Or, will full metal units be acceptable?

Both are acceptable.

10. For the Commander: Please clarify the requirement for the tables. Is the requirement for a quantity of (5) 2’ radius tables x 3’ high? A 3’ high table would be a standing height table. Please advise if this is correct or if the specification needs adjusted.

The 5 tables are a separate line item than the commander’s office. All tables should be tall enough to sit at with your legs under the table and be able to fit 4-5 people around it.

11. We note that this solicitation is being conducted under the following two Federal Acquisition Subparts: Subpart 12.6—Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items Subpart 13.5—Test Program for Certain Commercial Item. Does the government also intend or expect responses to be for product and services found on GSA Schedule 71 contracts, or is this solicitation to be consider as “open market?”

This is being conducted as full and open competition as stated in the solicitation. However, it is up to the offeror whether or not to use GSA pricing.

12. Ref Q & A 7 March 2014, #7. The answer states “all finishes shall be high quality veneer, not wood, with flipper doors and wood grain laminate tops.” Veneer is wood. Do you want wood grain laminate for the flipper doors and tops?

By “no wood” we meant hardwoods. The tops and flipper doors should match the material of the rest of the desk.

13. Ref Q & A #10 concerning the “systems stations” – need clarification for the following. If the panels are to be powered (meaning the user will plug directly into the systems panel, not the wall) will there be wall receptacles to hardwire a base feed for each of the seven stations? OR does the user want to plug electrical and computer directly into the building wall, which means they need open access to the wall connections.

We want access to the wall connections; there is no need to wire the stations to the wall.

14. If panels are to be powered, should we include the electrician cost to hardwire the stations base feed to the building power source?

No, see previous question.

15. If user will want access to the wall connections, it will be easier and less expensive to use a freestanding product to closely match the other offices.

That is acceptable.

16. If panels are confirmed, what type of surface is required for the panels – fabric (which is normal) or a wood grain laminate to match closely to the wood finish of the private offices?

Please use fabric.

17. For the commander’s office there is a request for 5 – 2’ radius tables, 3’ high. 3’ (36”) high would be higher than desk height (standard is 29”high). Are these supposed to be small accessory (lamp) tables, which normally have a height range of 16-20” high?

They need to be desk height as these will be used as small conference tables.

18. Will there be an extension to the original response date posted on the solicitation of 27 March 14?

At this time, there is no anticipated extension. The 27 March date was an administrative error.

File details come from the government source that posted it. Updated .
