MMC Maintenance Notes
YearWork Performed
2013 (Q4 only)Visual inspection of tester: 360 degree walkaround. Verified all panels, safety controls, and

warning labels are in place. Check cable routing, check for damage, wear, and proper strain relief Ran golden chassis, found a resistance failure. Corrected by reinserting connectors into motherboard, and adjusting ribbon cables on face of Cirris tester.

2014Quarterly Visual inspection of tester: 360 degree walkaround. Verified all panels, safety controls, and warning labels are in place. Check cable routing, check for damage, wear, and proper strain relief
Fixed a resistance failure found during testing. Corrected by reinserting connectors into

motherboard, and adjusting ribbon cables on face of Cirris tester.

UUT slide and lift table lubricated.
Broken tab on connector shell discovered, replaced.

(Part number: Amphenol #77820 10-507201-123 0838 Modified under 55598 S-251

Fixed a resistance failure during testing, multiple high resistances across a number of connections. Corrected by reinstalling some paddle cards and re-recuring connectors at the Cirris interface.

Found paddle cards with severely damaged connector frames. Replaced with modified version
Observed cables rubbing while table was rising, cables were restrained.
When the Chassis was being loaded an error (Chassis switch failed during test) was occurring.

Replaced chassis and UUT detection switches. Part number: CCI# 463150062000 When the system was unloading the card, the XA11 and XA22 locations had an extraction error. This was caused by the sensor not detecting the card was extracted.

Adjustments were made to these two sensors and the problem was corrected.

Fixed a resistance failure during testing, multiple high resistances across a number of connections. Corrected by reinstalling some paddle cards and re-recuring connectors at the Cirris interface.

Found damaged pin saver, original pin saver was damaged and would not insert into backplane A1J7 connector. Replaced pin saver mod, Part number: Airborn #MQ-212-015-143-0000-93A .

When the system was loading the cards, the XA12 location occasionally had an insertion error (failure to recognize full insertion of the card). This was caused by the sensor not detecting the card was fully inserted. Adjustments were made to the sensor and the problem was corrected.
2015Quarterly Visual inspection of tester: 360 degree walkaround. Verified all panels, safety controls, and warning labels are in place. Check cable routing, check for damage, wear, and proper strain relief
Fixed a resistance failure found during testing. Corrected by reinserting 2 paddle cards.
When the system was loading the cards, the XA12 location occasionally had an insertion error

(failure to recognize full insertion of the card). This was caused by the sensor not detecting the card was fully inserted. In previous visits adjustments were made to the sensor detect height. On this visit an adjustment was made to the insertion depth (increased) of the XA12 card location

Fixed a resistance failure found during testing. Corrected by reconnecting ribbon cables on Cirris tester.
Fixed a resistance failure found during testing. Corrected by reseating 3 paddle cards.
The XA6 card location had a missing wire error XA6_C1. This issue could not be remedied so the card was

removed from the fixture and replaced with a spare paddle card. The spare card was tested (for both isolation and continuity) when it was installed in the fixture. The failing paddle card was evaluated and it was found there was an open between the XA6_C1 location and the P1_1 location

Quarterly Inspection Criteria

Sample Inspection Checklist
1Perform a 360 degree inspection walk around to look for any obvious damage.
2Checked to verify that all panels, safety shields, and warning labels are in place
3Check cable routing; look for damage, wear, and proper strain relief.
4Test golden unit, address any failures.
5Using the system control panel, turn on the system Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) (Sec. 4.4 of user manual). Record the number of actuations for each connector (Solenoid Cycle Counter).
6Power down the system and relieve all air pressure, “Lock out and Tag out” (sec 6.2 of User’s Manual)
7Inspect the general condition of the inside of the fixture (cleanliness of the system and note the environment)
8Check the Cirris Tester to Fixture interface
9Inspect Paddle Cards for wear, pin alignment, etc..
10Inspect Paddle Card Air Cylinder Bay (Air lines, switches, flow controls, etc..) and ensure that they are in working condition and not damaged.
11Inspect UUT slide and lift table, ensuring everything is in place and in working order (spring lock tab, position switches, door, shields, bearings, guides, etc..)
12Inspect fixture externals (keyboard, mouse, emergency stop buttons, air inlet, etc..)

Paddle Card Inspection Results

Examples of Paddle Card inspection results.
1.1 Paddle Cards(June 2015)

1.) The paddle card ribbon cable to interface board connection is free from damage.

2.) The paddle card ribbon cable to PCB is free from damage

3.) The cards, guides, and connectors are free from damage (note each card’s condition listed below):

WJ1/2
Some wear on the card guides from rubbing on the chassis (most on the transfer pin side), the alignment pins show some wear on the XA2 connector side. The male pin D-sub connector shows no significant wear, and only a little gold dust (cleaned with a soft bristle brush) was seen on the housing. The female pin D-sub connector also is in good condition. (See also Figure A).
XA2
The delrin card guides are in good condition, along with the connector male pins, and alignment pins. (See also Figure A)
XA3
The card guides show no wear, the male pins are all straight, and the alignment pins are in good condition. (See also Figure A)
