A vendor will normally be allowed only one attempt to receive full or conditional approval. Failure to receive approval of First Article inspection may, at the discretion of the Government, result in termination of the contract.

First article waiver requests based on similarity will not be approved for Critical Safety Items (CSI). Similar item is defined as an item that has been previously manufactured to the same drawing but is the opposite hand and/or has a different dash number.
