About this file
This is a Memorandum for Record documenting equipment specifications for a federal procurement action, M26-110, issued by the Department of the Air Force Headquarters Air Force Sustainment Center (AFMC) at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma on 12 March 2026.
The 76 MXSG is requesting funds to procure one Niton XL5 Plus handheld XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analyzer or equivalent for alloy analysis. The instrument must analyze 80 different elements ranging from Magnesium (Mg #12) through Uranium (U #92) on the Periodic table, with enhanced performance capabilities for light element analysis (Mg, Al, Si, P, and S) without requiring helium purge or vacuum systems. The analysis time must be approximately 1-2 seconds for most applications. The X-ray tube specifications require a minimum of 50kV and 200 µA output with a silver anode. The equipment must include the latest manufacturer design and safety features in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). The analyzer must be capable of connecting to a computer for downloading scans and results, and computer software for managing scans and results must be included with the equipment.
