About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) response clarifying requirements for the procurement of Epocast 1627-2 epoxy casting compound certified to BMS5-28 Type 27 specification.
The procuring agency requires the complete two-part kit (resin and hardener) supplied in 6 oz. units, with 216 total units requested at 108 units per delivery. While 6 oz. is the preferred packaging size, alternate standard sizes may be considered. Regarding shelf life, the agency will waive the original 85% remaining requirement upon receipt and may adjust quantity and shipping frequency to accommodate the product's 90-day shelf life specification when stored at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit. The BMS 5-28 Type 27 specification remains currently in effect and applicable, despite anticipated future elimination in favor of alternative certifications such as BMS 5-21 Type Class 1 REV A. Shipments must be overnight delivery to ensure proper transit temperatures and must be limited to Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday departure dates to prevent weekend transit issues with FedEx. The SOW does not explicitly name the manufacturer; however, a brand name justification document is referenced for manufacturer confirmation regarding Pace Technologies' EpoCast product line.

1. Manufacturer: The SOW lists "Epocast 1627-2" certified to BMS5-28 Type 27, but does not name a manufacturer. Can you confirm whether this refers specifically to Pace Technologies' EpoCast product line?
Answer: Please see attached brand name justification.
2. Packaging size: The SOW specifies 6 oz. units (216 total, 108 EA per delivery). Is 6 oz.
a firm requirement, or would an alternate standard packaging size be acceptable?
Answer: 6 oz units are preferred.
3. Product configuration: EpoCast is typically supplied as a two-part system (resin and hardener) or as a complete kit. The SOW does not specify which is needed — could you confirm whether you're requesting the resin only, the hardener only, or the complete two-part kit?
Answer: We will need the complete 2 part kit.
4. The requested shelf life of 85 % remaining at time of delivery cannot be met due to specifications and processing requirements. Shelf life per spec is 90 days from date of manufacture at or below zero degrees F , (85 % would be 77 days remaining) Typical ship date from Manufacturing is 12 to 20 days due to testing and shipment coordination. That coupled with transit time would usually exceed the limit
Answer: we could waive the requirement for the 85% shelf-life requirement upon receipt. We may need to adjust our QTY and shipping frequency to accommodate the 90-day shelf life.
5. The BMS 5-28 type 27 call out is under review and is expected to be eliminated as an option in the following months. The initial release may be certified to the BMS 5-28 type 27 call out but may be eliminated when the second release becomes due. The BMS 5-28 type 27 is certified to the spec with one restriction associated with an MSRR limitation which required the user to get Boeing approval for use in their applications. Alternative specification certification may be possible (BMS 5-21 type class 1 REV A) which eliminates the need for the MSRR.
Answer: At this time BMS 5-28 type 27 is still currently in eƯect and therefore applicable.
6. The material must ship overnight to ensure proper transit temperatures and is limited to ship dates to ensure delivery under proper storage solutions. Suggest shipments only on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (eliminate transit issues with
FEDEX).
Answer: That is acceptable.
