Missile Potential Hazard Network Questions on RFP (4/30/2015)

1) The deployed network topology is not defined. It must be inferred from the equipment list. We would like confirmation that the topology shown below is the intention of the customer. If this topology is incorrect, we suggest that the customer provide a simple block diagram of the deployed topology.

a. The topology is correct for the deployed location, except for the CISCO ASA. This will be used at the main base as a gateway.

2) The SOW and Solicitation define the need for a router, but do not provide technical details beyond the overall capacity of the network.

a. As this solution involves classified networks and Type 1 encryptors IA requirements apply. Does the router need to be certified? (FIPS140-2, JITC APL).

i. No. JTIC certification is preferred but not required

b. The SOW and Solicitation are in conflict regarding the number of ports required on the router. The solicitation requires 4 ports while the SOW is calling out 8 ports.

i. 4 ports.

c. Are there any specific feature requirements for the router beyond the raw capacity? (e.g. OSPFv2, OSPFv3, GRE, NHRP, IPsec, DMVPN, SSHv2, SMNPv3)

i. Nothing specific.

3) Please confirm the quantities of KG250X encryptors in the Solicitation. The Solicitation defines 3 X KG250X with X-PEP proxy licenses. However, there are only 2 X KG250X Power Supplies required and the SOW defines this as a two network solution.

a. There will be 1 encryptor at the main base and it will draw its power there. Each base will have 2 kits, one encryptor per kit that will need its own power supply. So three per base.

4) The firewall in the Solicitation is defined as a Cisco ASA 5512. This is not a detailed enough definition to determine pricing as there are many options to the ASA 5512. The Cisco ASA 5512-X data sheet defines 9 different configurations. The SOW does not contain the requirements for the ASA so that it is not possible to technically infer the feature set required. As these variants provide significantly different capabilities and prices further definition is required.

a. The CISCO ASA 5512 will be the gateway for each base and will need to be configured as such.

5) The 9.6 VDC battery system is not technically defined adequately to procure. Please provide technical specifications (e.g. Capacity, chemistry, min/max voltage, maximum current ….etc) for this functionality.

a. The exact power supply should be AC 100 TO 240 VAC; 50 to 60 Hz and DC power 12 to 32 VDC.
