About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a 60-ton Air Cooled Chiller procurement by the Air Force. The key details include: the requirement is for product only, with no installation services; the government will accept a 60-ton or equivalent chiller, noting that CAT offers 50-ton and 74-ton models as potential alternatives. The project is tax exempt, and the portability requirement specifically calls for forklift skids. Vendors are seeking clarification on the exact specifications, including unit size, mounting configuration, and acceptance of slightly different tonnage chillers.

The document is dated August 21, 2025, and provides direct responses to five vendor questions about the chiller procurement. The government's responses emphasize flexibility within certain parameters, such as accepting chillers "or equal" to the specified 60-ton unit and defining portability strictly as having forklift skids. No pricing, specific delivery dates, or additional procurement details are included in this Q&A document.

Questions and Answers - 60 ton Chiller

1. Is this requirement / project for just the product, or are you needing installation as well?

Product only

2. You requirement list a 60T Air Cooled Chiller. CAT offers a 50T and 74T Chiller available. I was wondering if the Air Force would accept either of those as a comparable substitute.

The Gov’t requested 60T or equal.

3. Is the project tax exempt?

Yes

4. What configuration is being requested to make the unit portable?

The Gov’t want it to have forklift skids. That is what the Gov’t meant by portable.

5. Do you need this portable chiller to be mounted on a trailer or on a secondary skid that is crane and fork liftable.

The Gov’t wants forklift skids.
