About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a solicitation for the upgrade of an existing Giant Voice notification system. Key details include:

  • The solicitation is for a turnkey upgrade to replace outdated components and add new speakers, strobes, and a seventh outdoor siren location. The contractor will be responsible for engineering, designing, furnishing, installing, and testing the upgraded system.

  • Existing infrastructure such as poles, brackets and mounts can be reused where possible. The existing indoor speakers and modems located in control stations will also be reused. The contractor must supply new speakers, strobes and amplification units as detailed in Table 2 of the statement of work, and procure additional modems for the new controller and seventh siren locations.

  • The upgrade requires reusing the existing DATA CONNECT ENTERPRISE IG96HFP-LV modems and APX4500 radios, with the contractor providing 18 radios total. Temporary construction power at a new 120/220VAC source must be available within 10 feet of the final pole location for the seventh siren.

  • Clarification was provided that the existing Giant Voice system is independent of the legacy Monaco fire alarm panels, and specifications on outdoor siren mounting locations. The solicitation number for this upgrade opportunity through the Department of the Air Force Reserve Command is FA670322R0003.
