About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the air compressor specifications for a hanger renovation project. The contractor requested clarification on the type of air compressor specified, noting that a rotary screw compressor would be more appropriate than the scroll compressor listed, providing higher CFM output at a lower cost. The government response confirmed that a rotary screw compressor will be selected, with a standard-sized receiver tank. The contractor was instructed to include the recycling dryer as part of the package quote.
The related federal contract opportunity is for the "Renovate Hangar B295" project, a 100% HUBZone small business set-aside with a magnitude between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The work consists of removing the concrete mezzanine, relocating HVAC and other infrastructure, and constructing new stairs and a catwalk. The contract will be a firm-fixed price award with a 240-calendar day period of performance. The solicitation will be available on SAM.gov on 29 April 2024, with offers due by 29 May 2024 at 10:00am EDT.

| INFORMATION REQUESTEDRow1: In the description it lists a Rotary Screw Compressor but the manufacture make and model is a Scroll Compressor. There is a big difference in price between the two. A screw compressor makes more CFM and costs less. A scroll compressor is oil free and has seals that need changed every 10,000 hours. |
And the two pieces of equipment it lists are a recycling dryer which has a much higher maintenance cost and if you’re not running the compressor 24/7 it doesn’t save you much energy. And it lists a receiver tank but does not give the size of the receiver tank.
