SOLICITATION NO.

1. The project documents states “WORK INCLUDES REPLACING PAVEMENT MARKINGS DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES”. All existing joints within the project limits are to be resealed, with some joints being widened before sealing. Is it expected that line striping be repainted where line striping intersects the newly sealed +/- (¾” -1”) joints throughout the work area?

Response:

2. The solicitation (1442) contain two (2) Lump Sum CLINs (CLIN 001 for East Ramp and CLIN 002 for Taxiway G). However, there are two additional “Contract Line Item Schedules” included with the bid package, one for each of the respective CLINs.

A.) Is this a LUMP SUM contract and the “Contract Line Item Schedule” will be used for reference only to determine payment for additional pavement distresses not shown in the contract documents that may have developed after the time of inspection in 2015? This is perhaps insinuated in the GENERAL NOTE at the bottom of the item schedule. Or is this a unit price contract and the “Contract Line Item Schedule” will be used as a basis of payment for the actual quantities measured in the field?

Response:

B.) If this is being treated as a lump sum contract, are the quantities provided on the “Contract Line Item Schedule” the basis for the bid, or is it up to the contractor to reconcile the quantities on the plan to the quantities provided on the Contract Line Item Schedule? If the quantities on the plans are greater than the quantities provided on the item schedule, should the additional quantities be carried in item 0001 as it reads in part in the description “….all work as identified in the Plans and Specifications but which is not included in Items 0002 through 0016 below.”

Response:

3. Please refer to item 0004 on Taxiway G item schedule. The description states “The measurement of 1 inch is an approximate measurement, no additional compensation will be made for joints that are less than or greater than 1 inch.” Please see below photo. This joint appears to be several inches wide, however unable to verify exactly how wide. How will this be handled when it is many times wider than indicated?

Response:

Repainting of lines will not be required for lines where there is only joint sealant replacement crossing a line. Line repainting will be required where the area has been patched, the slab replaced or if the joint replacement runs along the length of the stripping

This is a lump sum contract. CLINs 2-16 are for all the actual work. These are being priced this way in case additional work is identified during project execution. CLIN 1 covers all other general conditions and costs that wouldn’t fall under these “per unit cost” CLINs.
