About this file
This is an Operator Manual for the Touch PLUS™ Retrieval System, a target retrieval system manufactured by Mancom Manufacturing Incorporated. The manual provides comprehensive installation, operation, and maintenance instructions for this live firearms training system.
The Touch PLUS system is designed as a motorized target retrieval mechanism that operates on an overhead track system. Key installation components include standard 6-foot and 3-foot track sections, copper buss-bars for electrical conductivity, styrene insulator strips, nylon shoulder washers, brass joiner strips, and trap-end pulley assemblies. The system requires mounting from ceiling-suspended "C" shaped brackets connected via ½-inch threaded rods, with typical installation height of 7 feet 8 inches to the top of the track. The drive unit attaches to the left-hand side of the track start section using ¼-20 x 7/8-inch bolts. The aircraft cable system includes tensioning assemblies, cable locks, and support hooks, with the cable wrapping around a ratchet shaft mechanism. The target carrier (RLT2000 model) features guide wheels, support wheels, turning motors, ballistic front plates, a lighting module, power pickup components, and a clamp mechanism for target positioning. Installation requires the aircraft cable to be tensioned to approximately 6½ inches total spring length and routed through track hangers and pulleys in a specific configuration to prevent cable splaying.
Maintenance requirements are stratified into daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly intervals, including visual inspections of track and carrier hardware, copper buss-bar cleaning with non-metallic materials, encoder pulse verification, spring tension monitoring during the first two weeks post-installation, carrier cable tension checks, and drive unit fan filter cleaning. The manual includes an extensive troubleshooting table addressing common operational issues such as carrier movement failure, home position problems, travel distance inaccuracies, clamp rotation failures, and lighting malfunctions, with corresponding remedies. The system is backed by a 12-month limited warranty from the warranty start date, excluding damages from improper installation, misuse, lack of maintenance, or unauthorized repairs. Service notices provide additional guidance on bus bar screw torque specifications (35 in-lbs using a drill with clutch), pulley assembly verification, track length and height specifications, and discontinuation of the cripple mode software feature.
