Question and Answers

1. Reference to para. 4.5 of SOO, attendants to the site visit informed that CISCO TAA- Compliant equipment is not delivered/sold in Europe. It has been asked if furnishing that equipment is mandatory or not. If not, it has been asked if the CISCO equipment could be purchased separately by the Govt.

I am still waiting for a response from the CISCO European rep. He is researching options currently.

2. Depending by the answer to the previous question, if CISCO equipment will be provided by the Govt. will the requirement be descoped/reduced accordingly to cover networking cabling arrangement only? If yes, para. 4.8.8 of SOO would be still applicable or could be cancelled?

Govt does have available switch and material on-hand to support. We ask that the vendor rack the equipment and connect power and grounding. The 31 CS technicians will patch from the patch panel into the switch.

3. Are the tech. specs. of CISCO equipment good as they are provided, or additional detail can be furnished (i.e. part number)?

Part numbers are:

Switch: C9300-48P-A

Power Supply: PWR-C1-715WAC-P/1

Cisco Catalyst Network module: PWR-C1-715WAC-P/1

Secondary Power Supply: PWR-C1-715WAC-P/2

Transceiver Modules, LC Connection (2 needed): GLC-LH-SM

4. Ref. to para. 4.8.3., is the requirement for cat. 6 network cable color (green) mandatory, or any other color could be accepted for NIPR?

Green will be the color

5. Which mounting height above the finished floor must be observed for positioning of new drop installation? “18”, mentioned at para. 4.8.12, are to be considered “inches” or “centimeters”?

18 inches from the floor. IAW UFC 3-580-01 (paragraph 2-3.4.1.1), they also must be within 6 inches of any power outlet, and the same height.

6. Which is preferrable to do first: installation of new cables/connections or remove the existing old cables/connections? Could the SOO be updated accordingly?

To preserve network connectivity to the users, the new cables/connections must be completed first before the removal of all the older cables. This will allow the users to continue to have network connectivity.
