About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract solicitation FA558726Q0024, addressing vendor inquiries regarding a Very Narrow Aisle Man-Up Truck with Wire Guidance required by the 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron at RAF Lakenheath.
The government clarified several key technical and operational requirements through the Q&A responses. The facility specifications include a rack height of 6.1 meters, aisle width of 152 centimeters rail-to-rail, and rack-to-rack spacing of 170 centimeters; the government confirmed that both wire guidance and rail guidance systems are required to enable warehouse personnel to work across aisles while pulling multiple part requests. For the charging infrastructure, the government confirmed availability of 3-phase 415V 32A power supply in Building 1035's charging area, which can accommodate additional chargers beyond the existing twelve units as they are not simultaneously operational. The government specified this is a one-time capital purchase with no requirement for long-term servicing or preventive maintenance contracts, as the vehicle will be integrated into the existing fleet of 22 vehicles after the standard warranty period expires and added to the current service contract. Regarding wire guidance compatibility, the government indicated the facility uses a Toyota-fitted wire guided system installed twelve years prior and provided a control box image for vendor reference to ensure proposed vehicle compatibility before submission. The most recent update to the solicitation (16 July 2026) posted vendor questions and answers along with supporting pictures.

1. The Solicitation document references both wire guidance and rail guidance. Could you please confirm which guidance system is required so that we can proceed accordingly?
We do need the wire guided system as well as the rails so the warehouse people can go from side to side on both sides of the isles, which is important when pulling multiple requests for parts, our warehouse operatives can just leave them on a wire in that row every day.
1. Charging Station Power Supply The Statement of Work specifies a 12-hour, 3-phase charger. Could you please confirm the available power supply at Building 1035 for the charging station — specifically the voltage, phase configuration, and amperage (e.g., 3-phase 415V 32A)? This information is needed to ensure the charger supplied is compatible with the existing electrical infrastructure.
Yes, it is 3 phase 415 Amp 32A in our charging area we have 12 chargers in that area so the building can take another the chargers are not on all at the same time ever.
1. Servicing and Maintenance Is this a one-time capital purchase only, or does the government require a long-term servicing and/or preventive maintenance contract to support the 5-year battery and charger warranty? If ongoing maintenance is expected, please clarify whether this should be included in the quote or whether it will be handled separately.
We have a service contract already after the warranty is up on this new truck it will be added to the list of 22 vehicles we already have, so this is one off capital purchase.
1. Wire Guidance Compatibility The SOW notes that existing guide wire rail is already fitted. Could you provide the wire guidance frequency and system type currently installed (e.g., manufacturer, frequency in Hz) so that we can confirm compatibility with the proposed vehicle before submission?
We currently use Toyota fitted wire guided system to fit the vehicles that was fitted 12 years ago ( see picture) of control box all the info I can see.
