About this file
This document contains a questions and answers file and a federal contract opportunity solicitation. The questions and answers file specifies preferences for stainless steel and a pintle hook tow connection for transporting the mobile F-35 trainer directly to RAF Feltwell in the UK. It also addresses the need to remove propane tanks or resize the trainer for road compliance. The solicitation seeks a mobile F-35 trainer for RAF and ACE programs to resemble the aircraft in size and fold in wings/stabilizers for transport on an included trailer with integrated propane tanks. The trainer must present various engine and fire scenarios and be weather protected in transit. The required 120-day delivery date is based on industry standards. The Department of the Air Force and United States Air Forces in Europe - Air Forces Africa are the contracting agencies.

Text version
1. What grade of steel do you prefer on this unit? Mild Steel or Stainless? We would like stainless steel.
2. What type of tow connection is required? Pintle Hook.
3. Is the trailer required to be UK Road Traffic compliant? Yes
4. Is shipping to a US consolidation point authorized? If so, which one is preferred? No, we would prefer the item be transport directly to RAF Feltwell.
5. As the length of the F‐35 Lightning II is 51' and placing that on a trailer with the Propane bottles would not be road compliant, will an appropriate scale resizing be allowed? It was my understanding that the trainer would not be a 1 to 1 scale due to that very thing. If propane tanks make the item not road compliant then I believe we will need the ability to remove the tanks for transport.
6. Are there any special LPG bottles required? Its our understanding that the contractor will provide the appropriate LPG bottles that will work with the trainer.
