Questions

1. Is there a AECS contractor who will be doing the final troubleshooting/confirmation? and confirm the connection to the Military Police. We can provide a standard maglock type lock with lock status and indicator but confirming connection into the base/building security system would require a security contractor who has access to your system.

A. Yes. The Army PHYSEC office has their own contractors that they send in to complete final connections to the MP office. The 298SPTS circuit manager would order the circuit. In this case, we would be in coord to disconnect when the work commences and connect back up once completed.

a. Is it required to remove and replace the existing storefront in a single day to maintain security?

A. Due to the mission within the facility it is preferred to have the exsisting storefront removed and replaced in a single day to maintain security.

b. Is it acceptable to install a temporary wall at the exterior of the existing door if the installation takes more than one day, and require building occupants to enter the building through an alternate location for the duration of the installation? The duration is estimated to be no more than a few days if it is not completed in one shift.

A. If the installation takes more than one day, a secure temporary wall at the exterior of the existing door will be authorized. An alternate entrance/exit point for occupants will be designated.

c. The existing door has an electronic strike controlled by a keypad at the exterior entrance. Is this in operation and required to remain operational?

A. Yes. Building access must be controlled by the keypad.

d. If the electronic strike is to remain, should the existing strike hardware be salvaged and reused, or replaced?

A. Existing strike hardware to be replaced.

e. Please confirm that the existing security control keypad for the electronic strike does not require replacement. If it does, please provide product information for the new security keypad.

A. Existing security control keypad to remain. Contractor to ensure that the existing keypad will function with new electronic strike hardware before installation.

f. Please provide a hardware schedule for the new access door.

A. The government does not possess the original door hardware schedule. Contractor to match existing and provide the schedule for approval.

g. The Existing door has a plastic or composite decorative panel in each of the sidelites. Please confirm that the new blast rated door does not require to maintain the decorative look, and can be all glass?

A. The new door/front entrance does not require a decorative look.

h. The rough opening for the entrance consists of concrete jambs and header. Can the Contractor assume that the concrete walls are sufficient to support the required blast rating, and no additional reinforcement or structural design is required to ensure that the concrete walls are adequate quality and strength to support the new storefront?

A. The contractor may assume that the existing concrete opening will be sufficient. No additional reinforcement or structural design is requested.
