Questions & Answers Solicitation No. FA520920Q0040
Network Cable Installation at Yokota Air Base As of 22 June 2020
Question 1: Regarding Communication Rack in Task 2, would you be able to provide us with the size, material, whether lock system is required, and what to be installed inside Rack (i.e. breaker box, LAN cables, POE Hub, etc.)?
Answer 1: • Horizontal and vertical wire management should be installed in the rack.
• The communication rack should be a standard 42U 19” rack with lockable doors.
• The rack also needs to be grounded and anchored down.
The costing is strictly for the Contractor to purchase and install the rack.
Question 2: For CAT6, with shielded or no shield?
Answer 2: Not shielded.
Question 3: For wire management panel, would you prefer 1U or 2U?
Answer 3: 2U
Question 4: For ladder rack, is it okay to use 11.8”W (little oversized) that we can get in japan?
Answer 4: Yes.
Question 5: Please explain to us what a “ground ladder rack” is.
Answer 5: Each section of ladder rack should be grounded to the next and the last section should be grounded to facility or rack ground.
Question 6: From power to communication rack, how long should we assume?
Answer 6: Assume 300 feet.
Question 7: Please describe in details about quantity for sub-task 1.
For example..
・1QTY = 24ports patch panel, x24 CAT6 cable, 12 gang box 2ports each, ##feet of raceway, etc.
Answer 7: If QTY is 1 the installation will be as followed:
- 1 Surface Raceway (Example Panduit Raceway)
- 1 Ceiling fitting (Example Panduit Ceiling Fitting)
- 1 Gang box (Example Panduit Gang Box)
- 1 Two Port Faceplate
- 2 CAT 6 cables from Communication Rack to gang box
- 2 CAT 6 Terminations (Example MINICOM)
- If no available ports in the communication rack install 1U 24 port distribution panel
- 2 CAT 6 terminations at communication rack
- 2 CAT 6 cables labeled at both ends
- 2 CAT 6 tests
Basically QTY 1 means a complete installation of two CAT 6 computer drops at one gang box (outlet)
