QuestionAnswer
I see reference to the floor loading and the bracing under it (saw the bracing last time I was there as well). There were cabinets stored there last time and I thought there was talk of installing something in that area.. My questions is - the spec states the areas are free and clear and ready for use, is this correct? The reinforced areas of the floor will be clear and available for turbine contractor use. There are new electrical cabinets installed adjacent to the reinforced floor area closest to turbine #4, but there should still be sufficient room to work.
I see a balance is required and a low speed that extrapolates to 3600RPM is acceptable and we understand this process and can complete this on or off site, onsite would be easier.. My question is - where is there room and stable ground for a balance lathe/machine to sit "onsite"? I remember this in the last RFQ so it must have been accomplished before onsite?Previous turbine contractors have brought balancing equiipment on site for use. The plant made space in their adjacent parts warehouse avaialble for set-up of the equipment.
Grit Blasting - that is done onsite, My question is - if I remember correctly there is a hooch/area for use? There is an area adjacent to the plant for the contractor to erect his blasting shed. The Government is not providing a shed, however.
Outside Movement - My questions is- will there be a fork truck or small crane to move parts in the blast area and the rotor out of the building - or do we include that in our pricing? (saw a carry deck of sorts in the pictures). The Government is NOT providing any forklift or other material handling equipment, with the exception of the bridge crane inside the turbine room. The contractor WILL be allowed to use the bridge crane. Bidders should plan and price their bids accordingly.
