Based on the age of the facility, toxic substances (PCBs, lead-based paint, and asbestos containing materials are not anticipated to be encountered. If any toxic substances are found/ generated during the project, all applicable regulations must be followed for proper handling/ abatement/ disposal. If no toxic/ hazardous materials are found/generated, provide the receiving landfill with documentation that all material being disposed of is “clean”. 8 AAC 61.600-790 Asbestos Abatement Certification Requirements, 18 AAC 60.025 Polluted Soil, 18 AAC 60.450 Solid Waste Management – Asbestos, 29 CFR 1910 Subpart Z and 1926 Subpart Z, 40 CFR 61 Subpart M National Emission Standards for Asbestos, 40 CFR Subchapter R Toxic Substances Control Act, JBER Asbestos Management and Operating Plan (AMOP), JBER Environmental Protection and Solid Waste Management Specifications (1500/1600), AF Policy on Lead-based Paint, and Anchorage Regional Landfill Policy 2008 (PCBs).

2.4.4.1 ASBESTOS: Manage and dispose of asbestos-containing waste in accordance with 40 CFR 61 Subparts A and M, 29 CFR 1910.1001, and 29 CFR 1926.1101, as applicable.
