Solicitation FA500024Q0300 - Replace and Install High Speed Doors- Questions.

· Can electrical as built be provided? Or can the electrical panel that each door be indicated? The electrical panels for most of the doors was not able to be determined during the site visit and can affect the cost of the overall project.

a) The existing electrical as-builts are out of date and many changes have taken place over the years. Each door has an electrical breaker dedicated to the door in an electrical panel. Some doors have electrical disconnects. The electrical panels will have to be located by the contractor requesting the information. Contractor will need a site visit to provide information required for their proposal.

· What wind load rating required is for the doors? If a rating is required, please state in PSF.

a) Industry standard wind load rating for the size and type of doors being provided to overcome high wind conditions occurring at JBER to prevent the door curtain from being pulled out of the door guides.

· 3.2.10 calls for (2) motion sensors on west end and supply door. Which building is this referring to? Are the motion sensors to be installed interior, exterior or both?

a) Both buildings, all doors, inside and outside. All doors on both buildings require exterior and interior vehicle sensing motion detectors. All motion sensors will need a type of electrical switch to turn off the sensor during off duty hours. This switch will be located within or next to the door’s electrical operation panel adjacent to the door.

· 3.2.11 Radio control: Receiver with (1) button transmitters inside dispatch office. What building is this referring to? What is the distance between the doors and the dispatch office?

a) Building 9361, Snow Barn. Recommend providing 1 each 1 button sun visor transmitter. All of the doors can be controlled in the dispatch office with wall mounted 3 button – Open. Close, Stop button stations. Building 8288’s doors do not require a remote door opening transmitter. They will be operated with a mounted open, close, stop button station inside the building.

· What is the minimum service temperature rating required for the door curtain?

a) Sub Zero Arctic Temperatures

· 3.2.5 refers to a System 4 controller with self-diagnostic capabilities in NEMA 4X rated enclosure. The System 4 Controller is specific to Rytec. Is sourcing doors from Rytec required or are substitutions acceptable?

a) Like substitute door controllers are acceptable. Sourcing from Rytec is not required.

· Please provide a copy of CSI 08 34 00 that is being relied upon for this project. CSI 08 34 00 covers special function doors and is not specific to high-speed rubber doors.

a) CSI 08 34 00 Special Function Doors is referring to the architectural designation for an Industrial door. The door being requested is considered an Industrial Door. See attached Buildipedia explanation.

· Please provide as-built drawings of existing conditions.

a) All as-built drawings are being updated. The updated as-built drawings for these building are not current or available. Contractor will need a site visit to obtain information for their proposal.

· 1.3 calls for security of the facility at night. Please describe the level of security and weather protection required. What are the building’s functions? Is the facility staffed at night?

a) Each door opening is required to be secure to prevent unauthorized access and weather infiltration after normal duty hours. The type of security barricade is up to the discretion of the contractor and the USAF Contracting Officer.

b) Base maintenance of airfield, roadway, grounds, and heavy equipment repair.

c) Both of these facilities are manned during the day for summer operation and 24 hours during winter operations.

· Is there a minimum speed requirement for the doors?

a) 50 inches of travel per second or close to that speed.

· What is the requirement for safety devices for the doors? The current doors on bldg. 9361 have additional safety devices located on the exterior side of the doors but bldg. 8288 has no additional devices.

a) Through beam photo eyes located on the inside and outside of each door for both buildings are required. In addition to the safety through beam photo eyes, include a safety reversing bottom bar with electrical sensing for each door in both buildings.

· Will the doors with motion sensors require a timer to close?

a) Yes, and the ability to turn off the motion sensor timer.

· Is there requirement for the doors to have a break away bar or have a quick reset/repair function?

a) Yes, a bottom bar break-away function that can be reset or repaired is required. The door curtain will also need to have a efficiency feature to allow the curtain to be put back in the door guides should the curtain be hit and be pulled out of the door guides during an impact to the curtain.

· Can you schedule a pre-bid site visit for potential offerors?

a) Completed on 30 July

· Are prevailing wages required to be paid? If so, please provide the applicable wage determination.

a) See attached Wage Determination

· Are Service Contract Act wages required to be paid?

a) Yes, See Wage Determination

· Will submittals be required prior to ordering material?

a) No

· Will the government require any other deliverables such as health/safety/environmental plans, HazMat tracking, QA/QC, traffic control, etc?

a) No other deliverables will be required.

· The pricing schedule lists all doors individually. Is it the government’s intention to award all doors or just a portion of the doors?

a) All Doors will be awarded.
