Mandatory Inspection Items and Safety….slides 3-4

Monitoring Grease Accumulation and Additional Checks…..slides 5-6

List of Facilities and Hoods….slide 7

** Mandatory Inspection Items **

Personal Protective Equipment

- Eye protection

- Boots (no tennis shoes)

- Uniform or Department issued coveralls

Equipment

- Flashlight

- Grease Comb

- Fall protection (as identified on facility slides)

- Snake camera (as identified on facility slides)

** Safety**

- Is your PPE properly worn

- Prevents contact with cleaning chemicals, burns, and cuts.

- Evaluate the safety of a scene prior to inspection

- Ensure the ladder is properly placed and secure

- Can you safety get on and of the ladder maintaining 3 points of contact

- Is the ladder tied off (not applicable to A-Frame ladders)

- Do you have fall protection (if required)

- Are hoods, cooking equipment, and vats cool and safe to work around

- Evaluate risks for slips, trips, and falls

- Summer = wildlife

- Winter = cold weather and ice/slippery surfaces (need for cold weather gear)

If you feel the situation is unsafe, do not put yourself at risk!

** Measuring Grease Accumulation ** When measuring for grease accumulation place the grease depth gauge comb against the hood or duct surface. Drag the comb slowly and level across the surface. Evaluate the grease level on the comb

** Additional checks **

- Is the cleaning tag signed by the contractor and affixed to the hood

- Are the hood suppression manual pull stations visible and unobstructed

- Is the suppression system charged, armed, and current on its inspection

- Are fusible links dates not more than 1 year old

- Look at the last system inspection. If the system was, for example, inspected in 2017 and there are 2015 fusible links, the links need to be changed. It would be possible to have a 2017 inspection and 2016 links depending on when the inspection occurred. Refer to NFPA 96, 11.2 and UFC 3-600-02 Table 2-19 for further guidance
