SUBJECT: Site Visit, Furnishings Management Office Solicitation (FA5000-08-R-0019)
The government conducted a site visit on Thursday morning, 21 August 2008. Participants visited typical units at two temporary lodging facilities (TLF), two dormitories, and the furnishings management warehouse. The site visit concluded at the furnishings management warehouse at approximately 11:30 am. Two questions were asked prior to the beginning of the facility visits:
Q: Is this a new requirement?
A: No, this is a continuing requirement.
Q: Who is the incumbent contractor?
A: The incumbent contractor is Inuit Services, Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska.
The visit began with a typical unit at the Sarnoski Court TLF facilities followed by a typical unit and a common laundry room at the Kuter Court TLF facility. Laundry appliances are located in the individual units at the Sarnoski Court units. One question was asked at the TLF facility:
Q: What facility maintenance items are included for the TLFs?
A: Refer to the solicitation and performance work statement.
Participants then visited a resident room, dayroom, and laundry room at Eklutna Hall--an older style (1950’s vintage) dormitory. Participants then visited a dayroom, laundry room, and resident room at Yukla Hall—a newer style dormitory constructed in 2003. No questions were noted during this part of the visit.
Participants did not visit a lodging facility.
The site visit concluded with a “walk-through” of the furnishings management warehouse. One question was asked at this facility:
Q: Are these all loaner items?
A: Most of the furniture and appliances in the warehouse are loaner items; however, some items may also be other government property or contractor property. Refer to the solicitation, performance work statement, and government-furnished property inventories for more detailed information.
No further questions were received as of the close of business on August 21st.
