About this file
This is an RFI (Request for Information) Question and Answers document addressing installation requirements for new air compressors at a Government facility.
The document clarifies three key installation parameters: (1) Location and Space—the new compressors will be installed in the location of the existing Quincy compressor, with pictures attached for the installer to confirm approximately 3 feet of clearance around the units for servicing and accessibility; (2) Existing Air Infrastructure—the Government prefers that the installer reuse whatever existing air lines and headers are feasible for the new compressors rather than requiring removal of the current system; and (3) Electrical Disconnect—separate electrical disconnects are required for each of the two compressors, with the ability to tie into the existing disconnect for a short run to mount the second disconnect, and adequate space is available to accommodate two disconnects in compliance with applicable building standards and regulations.

RFI Question and Answers
1. Pictures of the proposed location where the new compressors will be installed. Our installer would like to confirm the available space and accessibility. Ideally, approximately 3 feet of clearance around the compressors is preferred for servicing.
Attached To this Document. The new compressors will be installed in the location of the existing Quincy compressor.
2. Existing air header: Does the Government require the existing air header to be removed, or may the installer tie the new compressors into the existing air line/header?
As far as the existing air lines/header, whatever the installer can reuse for the new compressors is ideal.
3. Electrical disconnect: Will a separate electrical disconnect be required for the second compressor? If so, could you please provide the approximate distance/run from the main electrical panel to the proposed disconnect location?
We would like separate disconnects for the two compressors. The ability to tie into the existing disconnect is feasible, so it would only be a short run to mount a separate disconnect. There is plenty of room to mount two disconnects and be compliant with any building standards/regulations.
