About this file
This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document from a federal contract opportunity for TAC Packs for the 55th Rescue Generation Squadron at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. The government is seeking 10 complete turnkey TAC Packs consisting of mobile backpack tool kits with layered foam inserts, tools, and toolboxes. This is a new procurement requirement, not a replacement of existing equipment, though the TAC Packs must be identical to or fully interoperable with existing Snap-on TAC Packs currently in use by the unit. The government will provide the TAC Pack items list, foam layouts, shadow board designs, and CAD files to ensure compatibility; however, laser etching and Military Identification Labels will be applied by the government after receipt using their own tool tracking system rather than by the vendor. The government is requesting a single award for all contract line items and has not disclosed the budget or Independent Government Cost Estimate. The ideal lead time is 2 months, with delivery required to 3217 S. First Street, Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, Arizona 85707.
The solicitation, designated FA487726QA102, requires questions to be submitted no later than 29 June 2026 at 12:00 PM PDT and quotes no later than 7 July 2026 at 12:00 PM PDT via email. Points of contact are SrA Corey Fish (primary, corey.fish@us.af.mil, 520-228-1922) and SSgt. Joshua Rodriguez (alternate, Joshua.Rodriguez.30@us.af.mil, 520-228-2213). The Q&A document clarifies that the TAC Packs are designed for maintenance operations in austere locations and includes a correction noting that item 0005 (Golden XR150 GFX Kit) referenced in an attachment is not actually required, as this highly portable X-ray generator is not a tool used by maintainers.

New requirement.
1. Are the TAC Packs required to be identical to, or fully interoperable with, existing Snap-on TAC Packs or tool control systems currently fielded within the unit?
The TAC Packs are required to match the existing ones on hand since the kit was designed to have the essential tools required for any maintenance to be done when in austere locations
1. Can the Government provide the TAC Pack Items List referenced in Attachment 1 (Salient Characteristics), including all quantities and required tool configurations?

Toolbox layered foam is the foundation that will be placed inside the trays attached to the mobile backpack tool kit. The foam is intended to hold the tools in place and have a home location for said items.
16. Do you have the final dimensions?
Dimensions are all included in the Salient Tool Specification form.
17. Do you have quantity?
Quantity that we are requesting is 10 EA.

19. The item description requests 0005 ITEM: Golden XR150 GFX Kit - QTY: 1 EA. However, the attachment references a 270kV unit (e.g., Golden XRS-3).
This is not an item we requested as this part is not something maintainers would use. This is a highly portable, compact, battery powered pulse X-ray generator.
