CV-22 Dust free HZL question and answers

41. Will the safety plan be due 14 days after NTP or with the bid package?

Answer: The Safety Plan is submitted at NTP after an award has been determined.

42. Please confirm that the Government will require the Contractor to perform one material gradation test on every “200 cubic meters yards stockpiled or in-place source material.” This equates to approximately 60 gradation tests based on the amount of backfill material required.

(Specifications - Section 31 00 00, EARTHWORK, 3.10.1, Fill and Backfill Material Gradation)

Answer: This is the correct standard based off of the UFGS specifications.

43. Please confirm that the Government will require the Contractor to perform one in-place density test “per 5000 square feet, or fraction thereof, of each lift of fill or backfill areas compacted by other than hand-operated machines.” This equates to approximately 135 gradation tests based on the square footage of the HLZ pads for each required lift.

(Specifications - Section 31 00 00, EARTHWORK, 3.10.2, In-Place Densities)

Answer: This is the correct standard based off of the UFGS specifications.

100 Yd dia = 7853.98 S.Y = 70,685.83 S.F/5000 S.F = 14.13 per lift, per pad.

15 tests per pad * 3 pad = 45 tests per lift for 3 pads.

45 tests * 3 lifts = 135 tests for the entire project, not per lift.

44. Please confirm that the Government will require the Contractor to perform moisture content testing at a “a minimum of two tests per day per type of material or source of material being placed.” This equates to approximately 140 gradation tests based on the number of days of the Period of performance.

(Specifications - Section 31 00 00, EARTHWORK, 3.10.4, Moisture Contents)

Answer: Per the UFGS specifications, two test per day are required, from the time the material is delivered to site, until all material is placed and graded. This will not be the duration of the POP.
