SITE VISIT REV 1
QUESTION RESPONSE
1. (a). Where will trees actually be planted?
(b) .How many trees of each species are there?
(C) What gallon size (average) are the trees in the nursery (tree farm)?
(a) Outer perimeter of Chavez West (E, S, and W sides), around the walking path at Doc Stewart Park, and along the road James Boatwright Dr. as indicated on the Map
(b) Bur oak 165, Chinese pistache 62, Chinese elm 81, Desert willow 86, Mountain mahogany and New Mexico olive 95, Arizona Ash 112, Assorted evergreens 34.
(c) 16 inch bags
| 2. Where will the water supply be located to include size of the tie-in and static pressure of each supply line? Can a map of the water line tap be provided? CAD Drawings |
| The static pressure of can not be made availabe at this time. We do have maps for the area. There is water supply on both sides of the James Boarwright Drive. |
Pressures not available. Maps will be made available after award.
| 3. How will the water be provided on the North side of James Boatwright Dr? Is there an existing sleeve under the road? |
| Water is available on the N. side of James Boatwright Drive (See Map). The contractor may have to bore under the road in some areas. |
4. Will water supply be Potable or Gray water?
Potable Water Is Required
5. (a) Will a drip or spray irrigation system be used?
(b) What are the provisions for sleeving under the paving of the irrigation system and are there any as-built drawings to locate and quantify existing sleeving below the pavement: will there be boring and patching requirements?
(C) If a new irrigation controller is required, where will the power point of connection be located?
(a) The overall type of irrigation is at the discretion of the contractor, however all supply line will be buried at least up to the point of water dispersal.
(b) It is probable that the contractor will have to bore under the street in certain areas. (See Map)
(c) There are several locations available for connecting controllers throughout the project area. (See Map) There are also some controllers with unused zones that the contractor may use.
6. Will the transplanted trees be staked?
NO
7. What are the warranty conditions?
There is no warranty requirement for the transplanted trees other than ensuring than ensuring the trees are transplanted successfully as required by the Statement of Work. The irrigation system will be reliable to include a 1 year warranty for the reasonable operational condition of the system.
8. License Requirement
“Design Competition: A landscape architect licensed in another jurisdiction must be licensed in New Mexico before participating partaking or bidding in any design competition in New Mexico.”

| 9. Do stumps need to be ground when existing trees are removed? Is a root killer required for the trees to be taken down? |
| Stumps will be ground 3-4” depth or removed completely. Root killer is not required. |
10. Will timers be required for each irrigation tap?
Each tap must be controlled by a timer. However, a single timer can be used for multiple taps if practical. There are some controllers present with unused zones that may be utilized.
11. Will a Base Site Map be provided?
Yes after Contract is Awarded
12. Will there be manufacture preference for the irrigation system? (Product Preference)
NO
| 13. What will be considered for Shock Removal if trees die, What will the project time of observation? |
| Trees that show signs of shock (don’t green up, drop leaves, etc) will be monitored for one year. Trees that don’t recover in that time will be removed and the holes will be backfilled. |
| 14. What will be the tree spacing requirements? |
| Transplanted Trees will be spaced a minimum of 30ft from the perimeter fence and at 30 foot intervals along the fence line (see Map) . Trees along the road and walking path may be spaced closer depending on species (address this in design). |
| 15. What will be the prevailing wage rate? |
| The wage rate will be as indicate by the NM Wage determination NM-8 (see the amendment with attachment 3 NM Wage Determination |
| 16. Is there manufacture preference for root stimulant? |
| NO |
| 17. What are the pruning requirements? |
| Transplant Trees will be transplanted in their natural form and pruned only to the extent necessary for safe removal and transplanting |
| 18. What are the standard work hours for Cannon Air Force Base? |
| Normal hours of work are from 07:00 am to 05: pm Monday through Friday. Coordination will be made with the Contract Administrator prior to changing the normal work hours or day. |
19. (a) Will the exiting trees be re-used?
(b) How many years have the 103 trees been installed in their current location?
(a) There is no requirement to keep existing trees once removed. The contractor will make sure all trash and unwanted trees are properly disposed. Stumps will be ground

| 21. Will the trees in the cemetery be included in this project? |

| 22. Will the bid requirement date change? |
| Yes (refer to the Amendment to the solicitation posted FEDBIZOPS |
| 23. Once trees are removed will the contractor be responsible to back fill excavated trees? |
| Yes; planting new Sod or seeding will not be required |
| 24. Will the upcoming addendum include the new bid date? |
| Yes, the new bid date is changed to 26 Feb, 2009 |
| 25. Technical Evaluations have not been submitted for this project, |
| Generally Payment and Performance bond are not required for other than construction contracts. |
| 26. Are technical Proposal or Means and Methods required? |
| NO |
| 27. Will 110 power be available at the site? (To support a controller) |
| 110 power will be available for controllers. There is no power determination for project work in progress |
| 28. What is the current soil structure? ( sandy, sandy loam, clay, clay loam) |
| The majority of the area is classified (NRCS) as Amarillo fine sandy loam. Some of the area (SW corner and part of the south boundary) is classified as Estacado loam. |
| 29. Will the contractor be required to replace any dead trees if so what species and size? |
| The contractor will be required to remove any dead trees that do not survive the transplant. They will not be required to replace them. |
| 30. Can the street trees be completely removed rather than stump and grinding? |
| Yes, providing that damage does not occur to the street and/or sidewalk. Holes must be backfilled. |
| 31. Will there be conditions for unforeseen obstacles (example…trees with roots growing outside the root bag)? |
| There are some roots growing outside the bags. The elms and ashes are the only two species that have been removed in the past 2 yrs. These had taproots that had busted through the bags. This should be taken into consideration when bidding. |
| 32. Are there any soil amendment requirements required for transplanting ? |
| NO |
| 33. What is the required completion date? |
| The statement of work requires the contractor to submit an estimated completion time for the project. The project will be completed within 90 days after issuance of the notice to proceed. |
