Questions for FA481424TF035

Air Fest Pyrotechnics Display

9 February 2024

Q: I see that you would like a wall of fire and simulated strafing runs...do you require a traditional fireworks show as well? If so, how long of a show duration?

A: No. We are not looking to add a fireworks show during the AirFest.

Q: I'd need the exact address to look at safety distances and also to see how much the city/county permit would cost.

A: The AirFest will take place on MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL which is part of Hillsborough County. The specific site is part of the existing airfield on base.

Q: When do they want the vendor to set up and or do a rehearsal run?

A: A rehearsal of pyrotechnics is not required. Vendors will be allowed access to the area prior to the event to evaluate the area. Vendors will work with base personnel on safety specific requirements to include in the pyrotechnics risk assessment.

Q: Do they want a video display for attendees who may have trouble seeing the pyrotechnic display do to seating?

A: Screens will already be set up for airshow attendees. No additional video requested.

Q: Are there any pictures or layouts from last year's event?

A: No pictures are available from the pyrotechnics display in 2018.

Q: What are the required licenses/insurance?

A: Vendors must have a current federal explosives license/permit. They must have current insurance including airshow liability, medical expenses, and explosives. Use of explosives is specifically approved in advance by the FAA and all handling/igniting is conducted by licensed or otherwise authorized by the state. Vendors must comply with DoD safety requirements and follow ICAS pyro safety manuals.

Q: What is the anticipated time length of the strafing runs and how long do they want the wall of fire on display?

A: Two 16 to 20 strafe runs each day and a 300 ft wall of fire.
