CATM Range Questions
Question 1: Is the Central Accumulation Point” located near or beside the shooting range?
Answer: The Central Accumulation point is NOT located near or beside the CATM Range.
The Central Accumulation Point is located approximately 2-3 miles from the CATM Range.
Question 2: In the description of work states, that filter and material/debris will be placed in bags provided by SHAW AFB.” Is SHAW AFB going to be responsible for the disposal of all waste materials?
Answer: Yes, personnel at the Central Accumulation Point will be responsible for disposal of all waste materials.
Question 3: There isn’t any language in the scope of work about the barrel or barrels at the end of the auger system. In the past solicitations, the contractor supplied barrels for SHAW AFB. Are the barrels and disposal being excluded from the scope of work in this solicitation?
Answer: Barrel disposal are excluded from the Scope of Work.
Question 4: All disposal is handled by the Air Force. Is the contractor responsible for transport of the range material from the CATM complex to the transfer site or will the Air Force handle it? What are the hours of the receiving facility?
Answer: Contractors at the Central Accumulation Point on base will pick up hazardous materials from CATM complex. The CATM Range POC will contact the Central Accumulation Point office, 72 hrs before range cleaning. The Central Accumulation Point Office will provide Tri-Wall boxes and liners to bag the hazardous materials.
The Central Accumulation Point hours are Mon - Fri / 07:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Question 5: Approximately how many of the 24 x 24 x 12 inch filters have been damaged every quarter? We estimate no more than 10 but these are very expensive filters and would like to know historical records.
Answer: Although it was records of filters being damaged on the initial cleaning, there has not been any records of filters identified being damaged during quarterly cleanings.
Question 6: Is the range still using mostly simulation rounds or have they returned to service ammunition?
Answer: The CATM Range uses frangible ammunition along with simmunitions.
Question 7: How many days are allotted for the quarterly cleaning in the CATM schedule currently?
Answer: The CATM Range allots two (2) days for quarterly cleaning.
Question 8: Does the range still use 30 gallon drums at the end of the Auger or has some other method of collecting the rounds from the auger been implemented?
Answer: The CATM Range uses the 30 gallon drum for collecting dust and debris at the end of the Auger.
