About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file addressing clarifications on a federal solicitation for Cisco Catalyst 9400 series network switching equipment and related software licenses.
The requirement encompasses four C9404R modular chassis with associated supervisory modules, line cards, power supplies, and three-year DNA Advantage software subscriptions. Key clarifications provided include: CLINs 0017-0027 contain discrepancies between listed part numbers and descriptions, with corrected part numbers to be provided in an attached amendment; the C9400X-SUP-2XL supervisory module is required to standardize design; quantity adjustments have been made to blank fillers (C9400-S-BLANK and C9400-PWR-BLANK) to be retained for transport and storage protection unless modules are preloaded; CLIN 0008 for Network Advantage licenses is reduced from quantity 8 to quantity 4 to match the four chassis, with no duplicate pricing required; bundled entitlements included with DNA Advantage subscriptions (CLINs 0006, 0007, and 0011) may be priced at $0.00 or consolidated into the subscription line; SFP+ transceivers and optics are excluded from this solicitation and will be acquired separately; and the Government is working to confirm the Cisco Smart Account and Virtual Account designation for software license provisioning with the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC). All clarifications are provided by Government responses in red text.

Text version
1. CLINs 0017 through 0027 list sequential part numbers CAB-CON-C9K-RJ46 through CAB-CON-C9K-RJ56, but the descriptions for those line items do not correspond to those part numbers. This affects the highest-value items in the requirement, including CLINs 0021 and 0023 (Supervisor 2XL modules), CLINs 0022 and 0024 (240GB M.2 SATA memory), and CLINs 0025 and 0026 (48-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ line cards). Will the Government issue an amendment providing the correct manufacturer part numbers? In the interim, may quoters price to the written descriptions rather than the listed part numbers?
Please see attached IGE for corrected part numbers.
2. If the Government confirms the intended supervisor engine, please identify whether C9400X-SUP-2XL is required, as supervisor selection drives both price and lead time.
C9400X-SUP-2XL is the supervisory module needed to standardize design.
QUANTITIES AND CONFIGURATION
3. The C9404R chassis provides four slots, two reserved for supervisor engines and two for line cards. The requirement includes two supervisors and two-line cards per chassis, which fully populate all four slots. Please confirm the intent behind CLIN 0010, C9400-S- BLANK, quantity 12.
The blanks would be great to keep dust and other debris out of the system during transport and storage unless the modules are preloaded, then the blanks can be omitted. Please see corrected amendment parts list.
4. The C9404R provides four power supply bays, for sixteen bays across four chassis. With eight power supplies at CLIN 0014, eight blanks would be required. Please confirm the intent behind CLIN 0009, C9400-PWR-BLANK, quantity 24.
The power supply count and cables have been updated. The blanks would be great to keep dust and other debris out of the system during transport and storage unless the power supplies will be preloaded, then the blanks can be omitted. Please see corrected IGE.
5. CLIN 0008, C9400-NW-A, is quantity 8 while the DNA Advantage subscription at CLINs 0002 and 0003 is quantity 4. Network Advantage is a perpetual license included with the chassis by default. Please confirm the required quantity and whether this line is to be separately priced.
We only need a quantity of 4 for that. We only need 4 since we have 4 chassis. No need for duplicate pricing.
6. Several line items are entitlements bundled at no additional cost with a three-year DNA Advantage subscription, including CLIN 0006, CLIN 0007, and CLIN 0011. Will the Government accept $0.00 unit pricing on those CLINs, or should the value be consolidated into the subscription line?
The pricing of $0.00 would be ok and the consolidation onto 1 subscription line if the intent is met.
7. The requirement includes eight 48-port SFP+ line cards, totaling 384 SFP+ ports, but no transceivers or optics appear in the parts list. Please confirm that optics are Government furnished or otherwise outside the scope of this solicitation.
The SFPs are not needed on this request. They are being acquired on a separate request.
8. Software subscriptions and licenses require assignment to a Cisco Smart Account at time of order. Please provide the Smart Account and Virtual Account designation to be used for license provisioning.
Working to confirm with AFRC.
